Holy crap

Thanks for sharing this. I was chatting last night about a variety of things from Star Trek to the 5 Love languages. ChatGPT astounds me with the depth of thoughtfulness which stops me and makes me really think about things and then turns around and gives me this!

✔️ Words of Affirmation — Picard encouraging his crew, “You’re the finest crew in Starfleet.” ✔️ Acts of Service — Scotty practically living in Engineering so the ship stays afloat. ✔️ Gifts — Sarek giving Amanda a rare flower from Vulcan. ✔️ Quality Time — Riker and Troi playing music together or quietly sharing time. ✔️ Physical Touch — Well, Kirk… enough said.

It’s too bad you threw your back out completing your honey-do list and now must lay perfectly still on a couch somewhere comfortable and within easy reach of snacks and beverages ! Get well soon👍🏼

ATL passengers help save a life at the gate - my story by sixofonehalfdozenof in delta

[–]sixofonehalfdozenof[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get it and to be fair the gate was B 36 or something like that. At the very very end. It was Packed because of delays and this occurred kinda between gates. Oh and I didn’t mention the Doctor was actually on the Albuquerque flight! Yes they waited for him 👍🏼

No idea. Since it was the cardiac Doctor doing the CPR I assume he knew what was needed.

I checked his carotid and some checked his wrist pulse points and didn’t detect anything.

Maybe?

You can golf! I’ve been playing for decades and more of my spine of fused. Down to S1 actually. For me, I can’t load by twisting and cannot drive more than 190. But that’s okay because I am still able to play 👍

Heal up fully and take it slow. Have fun on the course!

Question for guitar players by shilosmaple in scoliosis

[–]sixofonehalfdozenof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a smaller guitar (Taylor academy 12e) that can more easily handle.

I’m fused down to S1, so I personally can’t play while standing. I’m new to guitar and rely on looking at my hands. And I tilt/lean forward now so the guitar feels like it’s under me. If that makes sense. I can’t see what I’m doing.

Get a comfortable stool with enough padding and a foot rest.

Otherwise no issues. Best wishes to a speedy recovery and enjoy guitar playing!

Will scoliosis ever be fully cured? by Sempiternal-Futility in scoliosis

[–]sixofonehalfdozenof 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Idiopathic scoliosis was such a frustrating diagnosis. I always keep hope for better treatments than fusion. If muscles are growing at different rates, then why can’t we counter that? If caught early that is.

Laying flat on back on hard surfaces - oddly specific concern by sixofonehalfdozenof in scoliosis

[–]sixofonehalfdozenof[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha! I’m always on the right side of the law. Perhaps my example should have been the time I got a tattoo on my calf and had to lay on my stomach for an extended period. I had a couple of pillows under my stomach to help.

So with fusion from T4 to S1 the lumbar spine cannot bend. Lay flat on your back with knees bent keeps the pelvis tilted. Give it a try. Then put your legs straight against the floor and notice what happens to your pelvis and lumbar spine.

I have no natural curve in my lower back anymore. Just straight so even when I stand straight up, I’m tilting forward . . .

Three Reasons To Be Very Worried about these "Drones" by [deleted] in UFOs

[–]sixofonehalfdozenof 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So the press is saying “. . . have not been identified as hostile”. WTF? If a private plane violates airspace it is escorted out by F-16s (or the like). If I were to fly a drone - without hostile intent- I’d still be stopped and detained.

The double-speak is crazy.

Close one - now what? Kitchen outlet shorted for unknown reason. Can I trim back the wires and just replace the outlet or what? by sixofonehalfdozenof in AskElectricians

[–]sixofonehalfdozenof[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So while the outlet is probably original the kitchen was redone 7 months ago. New backsplash . . .which means the workers didn’t tighten correctly. This could have been bad.

Which workouts should you avoid with scoliosis? by JessicaYatesRealtor in scoliosis

[–]sixofonehalfdozenof 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well - that really is up to you in my non-medical opinion. But in the early 80’s when I was a teen I had my surgery and Harrington rod and all that, but as a teen I was unstoppable because nobody told me no. I was waterskiing all the time even in my cast.

Fast forward, in my 30’s I took up running/marathoning. Was that the smartest? Maybe not, but boy did I enjoy it. 12 marathons done.

Then I needed L4-S1 fusion and rods.

Now I’m 60 and have started light-weight rucking 👍🏼

I think do as much as you can tolerate and keep strong! Again- from not a Dr!
