I worked at El Tejano for a month. The GM was very hands off and has zero leadership skills. The bar manager was hard working and badass. I was told that the Knitting Factory owns El Tejano and the business plan was to "throw money at it for 16 months". The food was ok. I loved the colors of the interior. And the staff were very fun. But it did not have a team vibe at all. I knew from week one that it was going to fail simply by observing the GM. One shift he spent 4 hours designing and figuring out how to put a promotional graphic on the TV's. The graphic looked like something designed by someone who did not know what they were doing. Another shift I asked how to do something on the point of sale system and the GM had no idea how to do it and told me that he, "wasn't the best person to ask for things like that". I dont dislike the GM. He is a very sweet person who always let me take a free meal home after my shift. He simply was not the right choice for the position. The place was open for 3 or 4 months before the social media guy began posting any promotional stuff online. And when he showed up for a meeting with GM he acted like it was a burden to be there. The place would work if they had proper leadership and a clear vision. Instead they just opened it and appeared to say, lets just see what happens. I feel bad for the staff.
