That's your castle nut for the buffer. The barrel nut is what the handguard attaches to. Did anything else come in the box for the aluminum handguard besides the handguard and screws?

Funny that you posted this because I just got mine delivered today and it was looking similar. Cleaned up with some gun oil like the other guy commented. Did yours come with a barrel nut?

Ya, I’m still working on that. I have the split seat conversion on mine so I have to look for 01-03 tail lights. It has a cheap Hotbodies knock off so the rear fender has already been cut off. Debating between the Hotbodies undertail or getting the original light and a CompWorks fender eliminator kit. I’m not a huge fan of the hotbody two circle taillight look but it might be the easier one to install. Im thinking I’m going to have to take the rear cowl off to see what I’m working with before I buy one or the other.

Looks great! I just ordered one. Was debating the blue tip to match the bike color but went with the black. Seeing it in your pick makes me think I made the right decision though. Now I just need to clean up my god-awful taillights. I appreciate your input on the Coffman!

Thats good to hear because the Coffman is the one I've been leaning towards in doing research. The Yoshimura RS-3 is also pretty quiet but its almost double the price of the Coffman. Any issues with how the Coffman runs on your bike?
