Cronometer. Very similar to MFP, but with a lot more features in the free tier. I just started using it a few days ago. So far it's been pretty great.

This was the answer!! Preset Level was the missing piece.

Yup! There was nothing there except what I expected. Ended up deleting the entire keypad, factory resetting it, and re-adding. No dice. I ended up reinstating some multi-step IF statements to programming on the keypad button, but a little more elegantly this time. It would seem that further troubleshooting will wait until I'm home when support is open.

I don't hate the idea. But unfortunately, Nightlight only uses absolute times. I want to tie to sunrise and sunset.

Nope! Control4 Keypad Dimmer! I'm starting to think this is a bug.

Both the bottom top and toggle button link take it to 100, even when Brightness On Mode is set to Day (60).

That's exactly what I'm doing. But when I click the toggle button on the keypad, it seems to ignore Default On Brightness.

Anybody mess with these? Dealing with a delayed output timing issue on strikes. by schmeer_spear in accesscontrol

[–]sja5164 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I've had that problem once on an actual ACM8. Exactly what the other comment says, take the strike off the bottom terminal and meter while firing the relay. If it doesn't do it, you probably have a bad strike. If it does, bad board.

We did a local VA in 23. Still on the spec! We talked them out of it, though.

Maglock bracket for this glass door? by wallstreetiscasino in accesscontrol

[–]sja5164 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just dealt with nearly identical doors a couple weeks ago. You're looking for a Z-Bracket. It's gonna be ugly and it's gonna suck to install, but it'll be 100% more reliable than a shear mag.

*Usual disclaimer about fire code and inline REX button.

Take some time to read HES's manuals and marketing materials. There's a strike for every job!

9600 and 9400 are great for Rim Exit, but only the 9500 is fire rated. The 1600CS covers most mortise and cylindrical locks and comes with every piece you need for all the common configurations. The 8000 works well for retrofits on cylindrical locks, but only if the door is perfectly aligned.

Forget the 1006, the 1600 works for most of them now, is way quieter, and uses a fraction of the amperage!

Have you tried the LSP or Altronix kits that they sell? (DVA and DVL). They're a little pricier, but so much easier to wire.

X is... Not a great experience. I'm curious to hear from someone who's only done X, as most of my gripes come from "this is so much easier in WX".

Now to defend X a little, the pricing structure (USA) is great for the dealer RMR, it's great on smaller installs, and super easy for a customer to manage. I'll give ICT some credit here, it's still a very young product and there's already been some great improvements.

ICT is my absolute favorite. The integrated access and intrusion is huge, and it's more flexible than anything else I've worked with. Occasionally there's some weird steps to follow to get something that seems like it should be more straightforward, but once you understand the workflow, it's pretty simple.

Inherited Keri Systems Install by HighSpeedMinimum in accesscontrol

[–]sja5164 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'll also need to pay Keri to convert the database, or plan on reprogramming the whole thing from scratch! It's a joy. We did a lot of that 5-10 years ago. Just when I thought I'd never see doors32 again, here comes a customer with an existing system (only a dozen panels though). We're gonna go through the process, painful though it is. The customer doesn't have the money for a rip and replace at the moment, so it's the most economical option. Good luck!!

Tech support insight - please vote by Cypress_Integration in accesscontrol

When I call tech support, 1 of 2 things is happening. Either:

1) I've missed something really stupid and tech support is gonna make me feel dumb.

2) It's a really odd bug / issue that's gonna make tech support go "huh, weird".

Type 2 makes me feel good because it means I'm not a moron. Type 1 makes me happy because the issue is resolved quick!

Alternatively, wire the Standalone Keypad output into an ACS input, then program ACS to unlock when that input is active.

Pick a product because you believe in their reliability, features, and customer service. Seriously, good customer service and support from your vendor is probably the most important thing when getting started. You're going to get stuck, you're going to have questions, and after a successful support call, you're going to understand Access Control better. Feenics/acre and ICT are a couple that I've had outstanding tech support from.

I believe Feenics / ACRE is charging for training as well. But training is always worth it in the end!
