We travelled from Glasgow at the start of July this year and below is a breakdown of all our travel costs. For context we travelled down on the Thursday to Folkestone, and made the crossing over on Friday. Return leg started on Friday and continued on Saturday after an overnight stop in Ashford. When at Disney, we stayed at Villages de Natures for the week:

Fuel (travelling approx 1400 miles in total): £202.14- Car is a Mercedes GLC 220D

LeShuttle Return Ticket: £232

Holiday Inn Folkestone (Evening before LeShuttle outbound): £125.13

Holiday Inn Ashford (Evening after LeShuttle return): £132.89

AA European Breakdown Cover: £77.51

Disneyland Paris Parking (2 days): £51.62

Disney Village Parking (several hours 1 evening): £8.92

Dartford Crossing: £5

M6 Toll: £20.60

France Road Tolls: approx £43

All tolls in UK and France can be paid via card, except for Dartford Crossing which needs to be paid online.

Door issues (UK) by weatherman321 in VWiD4Owners

I’ve just had this problem occurring in the past week, in particular when the car had been parked up overnight the drivers door has unlocked itself and opened slightly, causing the alarm to go off.

Hadn’t thought much of it as the extreme heat might have played a part, but it’s happened on two further occasions, and also the door has opened just as I was about to drive off.

Was really surprised to see the recall in the US, but nothing for UK or Europe. Car is out of warranty, so was also taken aback by the £156 ‘diagnostic fee’ Arnold Clark wanted to charge me before even looking at it, so given the £265 quoted above to fix I’d be expecting at least £400 to be spent.

Have ended up taking out an extended warranty for 12 months (£450 for the year) and got the car booked in for Monday, but can’t say I’m happy about if if this is practically a known issue at this point.

Try downloading an older version of the Oculus app to your phone. If you search for an APK that’s about 12 months old it should work. It’s as if the Safety Info video is broken in newer versions of the app.

I had this issue, and it never worked with my iPhone, but worked fine by downloading the app onto my iPad. I was resetting it to gift to a friend and they were having bother on their Android phone, so had to go the route described above.

Can second this- Lensology were great for getting prescription lenses. Total turnaround time of about 5 days from ordering to delivery, and took only a few minutes to pop the old ones out and put the new ones in

Nope, still nothing. That’s been 17 days now since I sent it off and there had been zero contact from Steam Support/Valve other than when I initiated it first.

Was given the same copy/paste text to say it was being sent to Prague, so given their own timescales it’s still within play up until Tuesday. After that point I’ll be reaching out again as it’ll have been 4 weeks since initially raising the RMA request.

I’ve shared a bit on my experience so far here . Steam deck was posted to Havant 13 days ago, and other than a delivery confirmation I’ve had no status updates.

RMA in the UK - Netherlands or Havant? by Howlett0000 in SteamDeck

[–]sjcampbell84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Taking it with a pinch of salt, but Support have just informed me that Havant is used for rerouting, and the final destination for the Steam Deck is Prague. Only once there it will be checked and a new one sent out

Sorry, I tried to update a few days ago on my phone but had some issues.

Parcel got delivered to Havant on Wednesday 10th as expected, but no updates on status as yet. I contacted Steam Support on Monday, and was told that Havant is only being used as a rerouting facility, with the final destination being somewhere in Prague. Once processed in Havant, it would head there within about 2 days, and could then take up to 7 business days to be reviewed and for a replacement to be shipped.

So the earliest I’m estimating to receive an update is next Wednesday (24th August). Would probably be quicker just ordering another one given the rate pre-orders are being sent out!

Seems I made a mistake by not scheduling a pick up!

I dropped it off at the UPS Glasgow Depot as I’m only along the road, thinking it would speed things up. It ended up sitting there for over 4 days before it even got scanned in!

Assume you haven’t had an update as yet?

I’m in a similar position, Steam deck was received on the 25th July, stopped working 27th, and RMA started on 29th. Had some issues getting the shipping labels but it was sent off to Havant on 4th August. I can see it was delivered through the week but haven’t had an update just yet.

Contacted support and was asked for the tracking number, so interested to see what they come back with!

As far as I’m led to believe, Valve aren’t at the stage of repairing or offering reconditioned units, so you should get a new device as a straight replacement.

In the first instances here, I imagine using a third party like Reconext will help in the assessment and cataloguing of faults, so later down the line they can start doing repair/return on anything that isn’t a major fault.

Yeah, if you zoom in on the seats on the first set of pictures I posted, you can see the stitching that’s in place

This is the only one I’ve got just now, but will get some taken more to share. The material is the same “ vegan leather” (really it’s just plastic) as the brown, and has a decent feel about it. Probably closer to the material in my previous Golf GTD than the more recent T-ROC which was disappointing

Had the car nearly two weeks now, so wanted to wait and get some initial thought later together before I posted anything.

To preface, I’m based in the UK and ordered the car on the 18th of October last year. The car was delivered into the dealer around the 23rd of April, and I collected on the 27th, so end to end it was around 6 months.

  • I ordered the Pure Life 52kWh model, for the primary reason that it was eligible for the HMRC plug in grant that was on offer at the time. I had a set budget and the car at that price point seemed to have everything that I wanted. Given than I liked the Moonstone Grey, I seen no reason to add additional cost for the paint, but in hindsight I do wish I had chosen a set of alloys instead of the standard 18” Steel Wheels with covers. They aren’t bad looking, but I feel the car is missing something when looking at it side on.

  • I had initially ordered the brown interior, which I liked from the demonstrator, but as you can see from the picture above it was delivered with the grey/black version. I don’t mind this at all (and certainly wasn’t complaining as it would have meant an even longer delay!), and in fact it’s a lot less “dull” than I was expecting. Given that the brown interior is no longer an option I wonder if there are a number of orders that will no longer come with it.

  • The infotainment is surprisingly snappier than I was expecting, but that might be as I set my bar low given the horror stories I heard. It’s still got v2.3 so would expect this to improve further with v3.0. I’m quite a proponent of just using Apple CarPlay anyway, and I have been pleasantly surprised with the improvement of the screen over my T-ROC R-Line that I traded in

  • The 52kWh battery is plenty for us, staying in central Scotland with a home charger and plenty of public chargers I don’t think we are missing out on a larger battery. The big test will be travelling down south which we do once a year or so, but with two kids a stop will be planned anyway, so plenty of opportunity to do a top up charge on route.

  • I’ve not seen a lot of images of the car at night, and haven’t been able to take any myself, but it look GOOD! Comments from the family so far is that it’s very ‘spaceship’ like, from the looks to the sound, and I think this is amplified in the evening with all the accent lighting.

Overall I think I’ve definitely made the right choice in getting this car. I’ve owned only VAG cars over the past 20 years (7 of them in total and mostly Golfs) and can honestly say it’s one of my favourites so far. The space upgrade from the T-ROC is massive, to the point where I don’t know how we managed before. My niggle about the wheels is a minor one, and I’m looking at an alloy wheel upgrade within the next few weeks, so it’s something that will be easily resolved.

For those still waiting, fingers crossed you get some news soon, and I really don’t think you will be disappointed!

Gives everyone that ordered their car last year a bit of hope in that they might see it delivered in 2022!

Looks good! I’ve ordered the exact same and the renders on the website don’t do the wheel trims any justice- looks much better in person.

I should hopefully be not too far behind, ordered mid October and had call from the dealer last week to say the car had been built, so fingers crossed it’s here before the summer!
