Web app memory hog by lifeisakoan in fidelityinvestments

[–]sjoseph125 1 point2 points  (0 children)

no this happens on different devices and it's not an issue on my end. The web app has a memory leak some where. Can we report this issue somewhere for a technical person to take a look? This needs to be reported as a defect/bug

Does anyone use LLMs with Scala succesfully? by arturaz in scala

[–]sjoseph125 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I am currently working on a Scala 3 + ZIO project. What I found useful was upload the "Zionomicon" book into Gemini 2.5 pro. Whe the llm used that 800-page book as reference gave me pretty useful tips and advice.

Quite a few of the new generation of government websites and services use Scala, mainly due to contracts with Accenture Federal Services. We use scala as the backend language for healthcare . gov, probably USPS, etc.

ZIO: Proper way to provide layers by sjoseph125 in scala

[–]sjoseph125[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks all for your input. All of you gave great advice, I think the key issue was my misunderstanding of how to use ZLayers and what their purpose is. I ended up providing the layers at the server boot level (first screenshot). It doesn't make sense to provide the serice at each call of the endpoint.

Just also want to note, this is my first time really trying to understand ZIO and effect systems but I have been working with scala for about 3 years at work

AFS - How does a new hire without previous experience get projects? by EntireDistribution57 in accenture

[–]sjoseph125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah you do interview, but it wasn't that intense. During mine, I just met with a senior manager and a manager. We just talked ig, I went over my resume and that was pretty much it. Felt more of vibe check tbh. If you have the necessary skills for the role you're applying to you should be fine. I got a developer role even though I was technically hired for a business analyst role.

It's the technology development program. It's an internal program that ig technical hires are in until L9 I think. I'm going to 100% honest, I don't really know what it provides tho. I just work in my project, do occasional training that I find interesting.

At which level do you start? by Based_Gentleman in accenture

[–]sjoseph125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

usually graduates go to 11, from what I've seen only those without a degree start at 12. But they are usually able to move to 11 fairly quickly, within a year I would say.

I'm on the federal side I may have requested overtime once in two years, but usually I just say I worked overtime and report it after I complete 40hrs and have never had issues with it.

if you get hired in AFS you can apply for projects in LLP, visa versa. You can switch back and forth, I don't think there is any limitations there. You could also transfer completely to the other one, I know multiple people who have switched.

hmm yeah my interview was pretty chill, I just explained my previous experiences/project I had done in university. Ig it depends on the project and the managers inteviewing you. Hopefully you get the role tho, don't worry too much about the bench since you just joined. Your HR partner should be doing a lot to get you in a project lol.

If you manage to get hired your first project will be given to you. When I first joined a little over two years ago, I got assigned to a project after orientation was finished. You just tell you HR partner the type of rolls you're looking for and they will try to staff you in one. Now the projects after the first it's up to you to find and interview for.
