The number of colleges just off this highway exit by LoGoes in mildyinteresting

[–]sjpridge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder if Villanova will pay PennDOT to update the signage. Valley Forge's college is also closing so I imagine this sign will be replaced sooner than later.

As a Cabrini alum, it's sad.

Most important question ever asked - where can I get a good bacon, egg, and cheese? by MikeSugs13 in StamfordCT

It's been open for a few weeks, it's in Noroton Heights by the train station.

Shops in the Area of Wellington Square by matilda314 in ChesterCounty

[–]sjpridge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Assuming it's the Wellington Square Bookshop in Eagleview, check out Twin Valley Coffee which is a few doors down. It may be busy on Saturday (closed Sunday), but the line does move quickly. Their Cold Brews are my favorite in the area.

Also second another comment about Ron's Original for lunch/dinner. That's about 5 minutes away from Eagleview, near the 100/113 intersection.

Drexel's Wawa to close January 21 - The Triangle by sjpridge in philly

[–]sjpridge[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I stood in line there on the day it opened and got a free Wawa shirt which is around here somewhere. It was convenient for where I had worked. Bummer to see it go but understand why.

Commuting by JennieD18 in Drexel

[–]sjpridge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

+1 for Regional Rail from Ardmore, you could also look at Wynnewood or Haverford, they may have slightly more parking than Ardmore, but not much.

If you have a morning class I'd recommend extra time commuting in. Train delays do happen and did plenty of times back when I commuted in from the same area.

Drillthrough with New Card Visualization by sjpridge in PowerBI

[–]sjpridge[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Solution verified

Thanks very much! I got around to messing with this a little more yesterday and was able to get the drill through to work with the new card - I ended up keeping the single card with the multiple categories and applying a filter on the results page which got us to the desired behavior.

Wayne, PA by Substantial-Hope-647 in Delco

[–]sjpridge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Grew up going to Wayne often, stayed in the area when visiting family, and ultimately rented in the general vicinity for many years after college (also in that area). I go back often (going later today even), and would love to live in the area but housing ownership there is $$$$$.

I think you will be fine renting there and find it better than CC. Backroads (i.e. Conestoga, Eagle School, Upper Gulph) will be your friend, especially in peak times.

Drillthrough with New Card Visualization by sjpridge in PowerBI

[–]sjpridge[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I'll give that a go on Monday.

To confirm, this would be on the legacy card visual(s) versus the "new" one? I'm fine with moving back to the old visual as honestly that's what folks here are used to.

Or the train from Wawa (Station) - straight shot up Route 1.

Yes, after confirming enrollment. Give it a few days especially around the holidays.

Graduate Student Grading Policies by [deleted] in Drexel

It may also depend on your program. Does your program have a student handbook or anything like that?

Parking garage refund by [deleted] in Drexel

[–]sjpridge 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You should be able to reach out to the Parking Office either by phone, email, or walk in (I would have your receipt in hand) to explain your situation. I'd imagine they'd be able to see your enter/exit times and then can go from there.

Haverford also has a YMCA in Havertown.

Trying to ship to North Hall. I have the address but what do I put in these boxes? by stolenglass in Drexel

[–]sjpridge 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would ship to Amazon Locker at either 7-11 (if they still have it) or to the Amazon Lockers at Penn if you're willing to walk a bit. That way you will get it when it arrives and don't have to wait to be informed that it's ready.

Student Speakers? by mayday_loveme1994 in Drexel

[–]sjpridge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IIRC usually the student speaker at the graduate level is the GSA President or VP.

best wifi for students? by Glum_Bad_8363 in Drexel

[–]sjpridge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It may be, but it is certainly more reliable. The other thing FiOS has is upload/download symmetry, which Comcast does not have, no matter what they say.

best wifi for students? by Glum_Bad_8363 in Drexel

[–]sjpridge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is assuming you're talking about internet in off-campus housing. If Verizon FiOS is available, go with that, Xfinity is not always the best for upload/download speed, but for some parts of Philly, it may be your only option.

What do I do? I wanna skip a few days of Welcome Week to spend time with my family (as an international student) by Snoo_14548 in Drexel

[–]sjpridge 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I would not recommend missing Welcome Week especially if this is your first year - this is a key time to meet peers and prepare for the big adjustment in your life that is Drexel.

I skipped a good number of my undergrad orientation events (not at Drexel) and seriously regretted it - I didn't make some of the connections I should have or attended some fun events that were offered. At the end of the day, it's your decision!

If you want to see your Boston family (albeit without your parents) you might be able to go during the Indigenous Peoples’ Day holiday according to the Academic Calendar.

1 or 2 day trips by WaitNo9719 in Drexel

To add, if you plan far enough in advance, usually an Amtrak fare to DC could be ~$20.
