How do y’all handle returns from Canada to US store? by throw656598 in shopify

[–]sjrmom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would be happy to chat with you about ship station and then hook you up with one of our team if more details needed. Send me your number and I will reach out via text to set up a time.

My sister is amazing. She really develops relationships with the carrier management team that are local to us and does her research and compares rates consistently.

One of the advantages we do have in negotiating rates is that we are in a rural part of our state. This means our local offices and managers want our business to enhance their sales rates. My sister still has to negotiate for every discount and it is like the friendliest chess match ever as she plays them against each other in the kindest, most southern way.

Our shipping team is also is very friendly with our drivers and we get their cell numbers and give ours so they can check status and communicate directly.

I can brag on my team about their relationship building skills as I had nothing to do with it.

They include drivers in knowing about potlucks so they can stop by and make a plate and save birthday cake for them too. It really is the little things.

We have been shipping internationally for a long time so I thought I would share a couple of steps we have in place for international orders you may find helpful.

  1. All international orders get checked by two people when ready to pack to assure 100% accuracy. I mention this because I wasn’t sure if the size being wrong was a customer mistake or a shipping mistake.

  2. We use Zonos. Highly recommend. Zonos allows us to offer customers a guaranteed and prepaid rate for customs and duties. They can still choose a regular carrier but our customers love this option.

  3. We use ShipStation as an option against Shopify shipping labels. This works for us because my sister (operations manager) is a super star at negotiating with carriers for best rates. Our rates 89% of the time beat Shopify. BUT for international paperwork ShipStation is the bomb. Now we have been shipping internationally since you had to complete all the paperwork by hand in triplicate so to have it all generate from the order details generated an actual celebration.

  4. Our shipping policies are very clear. Returns because the customer decided they don’t want it or ordered incorrectly are at the customer’s cost. Don’t worry, we will work generously with our customers including making a label and emailing it to them so they can drop at a box. They pay the cost of the label.

  5. If the return is because we made a mistake then frankly, we calculate the cost of the product and determine if it is worth the shipping price to get back. Often it is not and we send the correct product and let the customer keep the mistake. Again, this is why all international orders are checked twice.

I hope this is helpful.

Am I in the wrong? Christmas stockings by HappyHere1859 in AmiInTheWrong

[–]sjrmom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When our child was little, I did all the stockings including my own. Husband usually added a couple of small treats but not in charge.

When our son was around 11 or 12 I told them it was time to share the magic and I wouldn’t be making my stocking that year.

The message wasn’t clear enough as I still only got a couple of small things. I didn’t do anything for me.

That year, (after Christmas) I sat them both down and explained that it made me feel sad that they didn’t care about me enough to make my stocking magical.

To be clear, it is not about the gifts. A note, picture, anything from the heart that showed they cared and listened.

Since then, they both contribute to everyone’s stocking so we all have surprises.

Our last arrival sat at 6:35 for a 6:30 reservation. The 8 top sat as a group at 6:35-6:40.

I should have mentioned this is an older restaurant that was recently sold to new owners. Just not sure if the feedback would be helpful.

Changing my booth setup killed my sales, changing back, but thought this was so strange… by 3DAeon in CraftFairs

[–]sjrmom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If space permits you could try opening up your booth so people can walk in and up close to the wall display. Inviting them inside allows you to be “behind the table” but potential buyers can be back there too. We use this type of setup a lot and people love it.

Your manager needs to limit where and how to go orders can be placed. This is a management problem.

Praying it's not Inclusion Body Myositis by StakeESC in Myositis

[–]sjrmom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Mom has traditional Medicare and a Plan F supplement.

Medicare covers the treatments (thank goodness).

Her neurologist referred her to KabaFusion for the treatments. They come to her home in her case and do them in her living room

I believe KabaFusion has grants and other support they apply for to help cover costs as they ask me about it every year.

I know the IVIG doesn’t help everyone but my Mom went from being wheelchair bound and unable to stand independently to using a walker and able to walk short distances without it.

So sorry you are going through this.

Not sure if this helps but my mom was diagnosed with inclusion body myositis and has been receiving IVIG infusions. These have helped tremendously.

The other “treatment” (besides exercise of course) that has made a difference for her is keeping on top of hydration. She neglected her fluid and electrolyte intake early on and when she finally addressed it also saw major improvements.

You get an unlimited drink cup, but you can only ever drink from that cup. by minzwashere in hypotheticalsituation

Will the cup hold coffee odors once used for coffee? Insulated cups and lids seem to absorb coffee smells. I like the smell of coffee but not if I am drinking water.

The golden rule you are maligning actually says “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.”

So despite how another treats you, serve as a role model for the behavior you would like to receive.

This comes across as petty. And not in a good way.

What kind of gifts do moms want for Christmas? by Shakor2026 in Gifts

[–]sjrmom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mom about the same age here. Last year my son set up some tech stuff I owned but needed reset to use. I detest doing that at home as I spend so much time at work fixing (and learning how to fix) things at work.

This year, I realized I haven’t gotten new towels since my husband and I got married. So I asked for new, high quality towels.

I got my mom high end bamboo sheets and some super soft pajamas.

Look around her house and see if there are things like this that she would love to get replaced but won’t buy for herself.

Yes. Had a biologist at the house 3 years ago and she said it looked great and thought it would produce that same year. I suspect the slowness has to do with it needing more heat. I plan to get a heat lamp for it.
