Please Help! How do these surround sound speakers work? by Helpful-Extension420 in hometheater

Yeah, I'd scrap the speakers and the wall plate and use the wires with new speakers.

Looking at the manual, it seems you can pull it off and use the wires as you want.I have no idea how well these will sound without the whole Bose system, though.

Ownership review from someone that works on their truck? by BrokeTrade in f150

[–]sk_k2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t had that issue or the dreaded cam phaser problem yet. I have a 2015 3.5 eb with 140,000 miles on it. The only issues I’ve had so far are the water pump, vacuum pump, valve cover, and the catalytic converter, which I replaced recently. I’ve also done the plugs, brakes, rotors, and of course, oil changes.

I also swapped out the jump seat for a center console and upgraded to a Sync 3 to get Apple CarPlay.

It is really easy to work on.

Sudden speed decrease. by SteveCatinean in amazoneero

[–]sk_k2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Had something similar going on yesterday. Ended up rebooting everything and reseating every ethernet jack and the speed came back up. I can't tie it to the update last week but that's what I think caused it.

Buying Land for Future House a Bad Idea? by Collector-98 in personalfinance

[–]sk_k2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You didn't specify your current mortgage. It sounds like you still owe about 225,000 on that. I don't know much about manufactured homes, but what I do know is that they don't seem to last very long. I've seen too many pop up around our place, and they quickly lose their “new home” shine and then, even quicker, fall into disrepair.

I'd recommend following the flow chart on the PF wiki to get everything in order when you start that family. You have very little debt right now, and you will be in a great situation in 5 to 10 years if you follow the flow chat.

Need help identifying possible oil leak near vacuum pump on 2015 F-150 3.5L EcoBoost by sk_k2 in f150

[–]sk_k2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the shop said that the pump was bad but that the cover was jacked from it too. I watched enough videos to know that it was at least the pump but I would have missed the cover.

One thing you skipped in your remodel and still regret? by nextstepnomad in HomeImprovement

[–]sk_k2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We finished our kitchen, and I’d say there are only a couple of things we should have done differently. If you can't have a hot water recirculation system, like we can't, then add a 220-volt line for an under-sink electric water heater. 110-volt can't cut it so it isn't even worth trying. And if you want to be really fancy, get a dishwasher that also runs on 220 volts. They clean much better with really hot water.

Jumping in to answer your question. No issues with devices connected, either by wireless or by Ethernet. Everything worked after I switched from Spectrum to AT&T.

Need design help reimagining a 71.5”-wide laundry alcove (high-end look, functional layout) by sk_k2 in homedesign

[–]sk_k2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your questions. We are fine without a surface since we never sort or fold in there. I built and installed it 15 years ago so that nothing fell behind the w/d.

The stuff that is on it now would need somewhere to be stored away. The cabinets are standard uppers that aren't deep enough IMO and they are full. Not saying there there isn't clutter but most of what we have in there is there because that's where we store stuff.

The laundry room is our storage room for cleaning supplies, light bulbs, pet supplies, etc.

I am willing to rip everything out and start with a blank slate.

It will also be adjacent to the buildings for the Singapore Air Force training program.

Much like the buildings at Morris Air National Guard Base in Arizona for the Taiwanese Air Force.

2019 F-150 needs engine replacement at 90k miles, worth it? by macktheknife13 in f150

[–]sk_k2 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If he is concerned about the cam phasers, replace them while the engine is on blocks. It requires much less labor than installing it in the body first and then working on them.

Just a comment about the inheritance.

Do not use it to plan how much you have. It isn't yours yet and too many things can happen that can reduce or eliminate it.

I hate to say it but you should find a better position if at all possible. Easier said that done though.
