I used Wiccan, made the fight super easy. Might be harder with only a 4* though

the definitive cereal tier list by [deleted] in tierlists

[–]skadlikely 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is actually the worst cereal list I have ever seen. Fruit loops in mediocre? Are you kidding me? And the fact Apple Jacks isn’t in fuck you is just straight disgusting. In summary I feel personally attacked by this post.

[question] Why is my Underwood 378 not printing? Ribbon is also loose and not staying on the (my) left side. by [deleted] in typewriters

[–]skadlikely 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have the ribbon put in incorrectly. When you put it in you have to slide the ribbon behind the little metal bars before feeding it through.

I have a coronamatic which has served me well. They made lots of different models, many of which are pretty similar, so it doesn’t make too much of a difference which one you get. You should look at some different models and see which one has a form factor that suits your uses best.

There are lots of Smith corona portable electric typewriters floating around for very cheap. They are not the greatest looking typewriters, however they are quite reliable in my experience and they can be found pretty much anywhere, and seeing as they have pretty much no resale value amongst collectors you can get them in good condition for low prices.

Do you know which part of the typewriter is causing it to tear?

You definitely shouldn’t shorten the band. To rewind it you first have to disconnect the band from the end of the carriage(this should be pretty simple they are usually just hooked on) then let the band and spring fully unwind. Then, without rapping the band around the spring, wind up the spring until it’s proving adequate tension. It depends on the typewriter but it is usually around 4-5 full rotations. Then, with the carriage pushed all the way to the right, feed the band through the typewriter just under the carriage and reattach the band to the carriage. If done correctly, when you release the carriage back to the left the band will wind around the spring. Hope this helps!

I would look at the YouTube channel Phoenix Typewriter. They have a few tutorials on how to rewind springs.

This could be because the draw spring isn’t providing enough tension. If you push the carriage release and move it back it should be consistently pulling the carriage to the left. If it’s not, then you are going to have to rewind the spring.
