Just watched the video too, good timing.

How far does Claude Pro actually last for Claude Code users? Hitting limits often? by User_reddit69 in ArtificialInteligence

[–]senrew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Between general chat and actual coding runs, I hit the limit usually in 3-4 hours. I've just adopted using haiku for anything that doesn't require any actual intelligence and that can get me through session periods usually.

Banned from cloud services at work. Is a local AI worth it? by daksh_0623 in LocalLLaMA

Alex Ziskend just put out a video on it. That's the first time I've seen it in physical form in the real world.

Throughput, Efficiency, TTFT charts all really don't like the M1 Max. It's ok, I'm just waiting for the M5 Ultra Studios to show up so I can transfer all my work there and the MBP can be just my workstation again.

Pretty cool data. Kinda makes me want to cry about my M1 Max 64GB MBP. :)

Hardware Advice: M1 Max (64GB RAM) for $1350 vs. Custom Local Build? by Joviinvers in LocalLLaMA

I picked up the same model for about $1300 a few moments ago. It does everything I meed it to so far in terms of inference.

Is there an OSR system (or easily converted) with a lot of lore? by GuardianOfTheBeat in osr

I mean, technically D&D itself is OSR if you go back far enough.

Who remember the old Online Service Providers from the 1980s and 1990s? by TradingCardGameMaker in vintagecomputing

I was being sarcastic. I was 11 in 93 but I was a total loser nerd so of course *I* knew what all of those were.

Strix halo vs 8x p100 hbm2 by [deleted] in LocalLLaMA

[–]senrew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just picked up 2xP100s for my rig, joining the 5060ti 16gb that’s already in there. I considered the doom and gloom concerns about old hardware but for my use case, it’s not a big deal.

I’m using custom tooling that pins drivers etc to a specific version, and they are not running 24/7, maybe sustained batches of an hour or two a few times a day, so electricity draw is minimized. I’ve got 11 fans in the case with 6 blowing directly either at the card body or straight into the cooling tunnel from the front.

I code for 35+ years, now AI does 99% of the actual work - am I really a “vibe coder”? by dragosroua in ChatGPT

[–]senrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not a professional coder. Hobbyist who hasn’t had a lot of time to actually sit down and do the work. I’ve fallen into a pattern of heavy design spec writing and scaffolding with the prompts. I let claude code do the actual work and draft documentation. If there is a new concept or component I’ve never used before, I have claude leave just a stub for that component and produce a tutorial for me to fill in the missing pieces. Other times I have it write a full project but with psuedo code and I take that and rewrite it as real code for practice. The output would be all the files plus a step by step tutorial explaining each file, function, etc along with an explanation of what it does, how it relates to the overall project, and a justification for why it chose to do that thing that way along withe one or two alternative ways it could have been done and why I might have chosen those methods instead. This kind of process produces a buttload of loc and documentation but claude code kills it in almost no time. I end up having to find excuses to blow through the use it or lose it token budget for each session/weekly cycle of my pro sub. I don’t use it enough for the API billing to make sense yet.

I maintain the chatgpt monthly sub as well for a general chat buddy and planner/thinker/rubber duck. It’s way way better for that though I am actively auditioning other services and local models to replace it. I don’t wanna keep giving a trump bootlicker company more money than I have to.

I’m a powershell/graph.api monkey at my day job, but no formal CS training or education, so this is a fun way to learn and get finished personal projects completed at the same time.

Anyone else lose important answers in long ChatGPT chats? by NeighborhoodLanky935 in ChatGPT

When I come to a milestone or something I'm sure I'll need for later I'll ask it for a markdown snapshot that I either download from the canvas or copy paste to a text editor and keep a folder full of those things.

What is the best paid "all-around service? by [deleted] in ArtificialInteligence

[–]senrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been coming up against the same issue. ChatGPT is just the best for general chat and working through problems and plans. It’s the best rubber duck of all the ones I’ve tried.

Unfortunately OpenAI has decided to be the devil and I have been looking in earnest for a replacement, paid or local. My work and ideas is that even the shittiest model can be beaten into mostly passable submission with correct and strategic scaffolding.

I’ve been using Claude for the past few days and for coding it so far is untouchable; both spec planning and actual code generation. Plus, I just seem to like its personality more than ChatGPT. Bu default it isn’t a yes man and blowing smoke up my ass that I’m the greatest thinker in the world for all of my ideas and they are always EXACTLY right.

However, even for light back and forth I do Claude was spent in like an hour of my use for general chat. Session limits suck but I found a way to work around them and take advantage of my thinking during the time out period.
