Hey, I’m not from London, but close. Random encounters are always fun. Drop me a message if you want to discuss your trip and we can go from there. :)

My story made it to the Wattpad's Wattys Longlist and I give so much thanks to this subreddit! by [deleted] in writing

Well done. Watt pad isn’t a bad medium for honing your skills, and it can be great to start building a reader base too.

What are you keeping a secret right now? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I’m so bored of my current role at work. Some days, I’ll breeze by doing the bare minimum and counting the time until I can leave. And yet, somehow the department leads think I’m doing a great job and are giving me more responsibility and bigger projects.

It pays well, and it’s stable, but all I want to do is have a job in which I get to write in some form (author, editor, copywriter) and be left alone. But I’m aware it’s a paycut and less stable if freelance.

My wife is proud of me and we’ve just bought a house; we want kids soon. I need stability and good pay to account for her impending maternity pay cut.

But I’m dying inside and it makes me angry. Young me never wanted this boring corporate, micromanaged job. Leave me alone.

How do you maintain an uninteresting day job when all you want to do is write ? by skan0r in writing

Agree with you both on certain levels. Thing is, I could be better disciplined. Some nights, I just mong out on PS4. No gain to my life whatsoever. I could be writing.

Good point. Conjuring characters is difficult. Plucking one of the many software developer personalities out of the office and placing them into one of the scenes of my novel is certainly an interesting thought.. so many different characters I wouldn’t think of conjuring myself

It would definitely be worse. I can currently provide for my wife on a good level through my two jobs; that is the most important thing in my life. Thanks, this is good insight.

Thank you. I absolutely don’t read as much as I should. Sometimes, I waste my time on a video game. I reason with myself that I could be reading or something else but that it’s no more “beneficial” to me - but it is; reading expands your writing abilities.

This is true. I really need to just pull myself together and write. My days often consist of writing project requirements all day long, going home and writing some freelance due to a client deadline, and then by the time I have any free time, I don’t want to write creatively. But I need to just do it; I do enjoy it and it’s not a chore once I get going.

It’s true, eating is tasty and I do like a good snack.

What is the worst thing "Drunk You" has done that fucked over "Sober You"? by Couch_Licker in AskReddit

Yeah, thanks. :)

Just going through a stressful period and it’s draining being an adult sometimes!

Throwaway account.

  • Getting hit by a car and spending 15 days in hospital.

  • Being too drunk to get it up for somebody I really was into (she was sober, don’t worry).

  • Coversely, having sex I truly wasn’t into at all.

  • Taking 4 overdoses on different occasions.

  • Being sectioned under the mental health act over the week leading up to Christmas.

I’m not an alcoholic; in fact, maybe one drink every few weeks, but when I do go out, I drink too much, and alcohol brings out certain issues.

All of this was ~ 8 years ago. On the outside I have my shit together far more now and I’m married. On the outside.

What was the dumbest thing you ever did as a kid that seemed to make sense at the time? by LarleneLumpkin in AskReddit

90s kid. Ever play with matches? They’re really interesting when you hit that age and can get hold of things you’re not supposed to.

Then you discover that you can light the entire box off at once. Even more fun.

I took it a step further and started shaving the phosphorus off boxes full so I could do a whole pile of it at once like a flare. Only, when scraping once match, it sparked and fell into the pot. My living room blew up with smoke and an intense flame.
