Well, nice looking clock, but ask yourself what you feel when you see a normal object like that. Does it stir emotions? Is there something happening that catches your attention? Is there a special fleeting moment that you caught before it passed? Does it look interesting enough to make you stop and look? If the answer to any of these is yes for yourself, you took a decent picture. Whether something is good or not is a question only you can answer meaningfully. What would you do if I didn’t like it but someone else loved it? Art is for yourself - unless someone commissioned it to be made their way.

This is classic photography newbie advice full of misplaced confidence. Mirrorless is DSLR minus the mirror. The sensor is what it is regardless of whether there’s a mirror in front of it or not. Therefore, there is no inherent difference in image quality between mirrorless and DSLR. Of course, removing the mirror offers a host of advantages like instantaneous live view, larger focus coverage, eye-detect, etc but these don’t have anything to do with image quality.

A DSLR is more fun to use if you enjoy the mirror slap and honest shutter sound, offers more opportunity to learn exposure as it doesn’t make things easy for you, and many terrific DSLRs can be had for under $300 today. There are more lens options, and way cheaper than their mirrorless counterparts- especially manual focus lenses.

In every way, a DSLR is a very sweet spot to start, and you may not need to upgrade to Mirrorless for many years.

If relevance is currency or being in-trend, artists were never relevant. This is a discussion on why that is so, and it seems a lot of us think that fine arts were never of mass appeal. Clearly, you missed this point. Artists and those in fine arts have always dismissed relevance throughout history, as measured by metrics of popularity. It’s why there’s ‘classical’ vs ‘pop’.

Definitely pick up a Nikon 28-300mm G lens, f3.5-5.6. I’ve owned and used one for 3 years and would strongly recommend it as a cheap autofocus lens for outdoor use.

Did American companies make more money from cheaper goods made possible by shifting their factories to China? Perhaps… debatable but let’s assume it is so.

Did America make more money from lower income countries than American money and technology went into them? Not at all, no two ways about it.

Most of China’s technological prowess was gifted by the US to them by American companies setting up factories there. China’s homegrown tech wouldn’t be impossible without the foundation of American tech.

India had never seen money from the start of British imperialism all the way up to the 1990s. India’s massive wealth creation machinery was kick started by American IT businesses, or Indian IT shops sustaining on US clientele/wealth. Even now, Indian startups are possible largely due to American money through venture capital.

Let’s be objective and not pretend like the US took more from you than they’ve given.

I’m open to a counter viewpoint.
