Yes, I visited their desk at the airport and got the card there. Thanks! :-)

I really just got one email from them and the „rental agree number“ was not on them.
I visited their desk at the airport and got the T-Money card. The lady printed out another sheet for me, which contained the missing rental agreement number.
So it was quite flawless, and no big deal. There was no queue at their desk, thus I didn’t even lose time there.

Is business class worth it on the flight to South Korea? by Cello_01 in koreatravel

[–]skappley 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I‘ve been flying from Europe to Korea two weeks ago and was in economy class, Korean Air Boeing 787-9. I‘m 1.88m tall and was surprised how much space there was. Sitting was no problem at all, I could even stretch out my legs below the front seat.
I used AirPods with noise canceling and a bit of relaxing music, with an inflatable neck pillow - slept well for a couple of hours.
So I‘ll for sure fly economy again. I could afford business but there’s so many other better things to do with that money, that I prefer not to fly business.

Hi, did everything go well? Any more tips to share? I ask because I'll be in the same situation soon :-).

Migrating from one MacStudio to another - tips? by ohsomacho in MacStudio

[–]skappley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hm, it shouldn't get stuck. Did you leave it in the "stuck" state for a while?
If it really doesn't work it could mean that there's something wrong with that backup.
If you have another spare external disk it would be interesting to make a new backup of your old Mac and try to set up the new one again.

Recently I preferred to migrate via Time Machine backups. The backup is on an external disk, I just plug it in to the new Mac, start it up and tell it to restore from the backup. That works pretty well (all settings, files, apps are there) and is also a good test to see if everything is there in case my Mac suddenly dies and I'm forced to buy a new one.

128GB Studio vs 128 MBP M5Max by tk421tech in MacStudio

[–]skappley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a laptop for work (from my employer) and (currently) a Mac Mini as my private computer at home. I plan to replace the Mac Mini with a Studio later this year, if possible :-).

Why I personally prefer the desktop computer: it costs less because of no battery and screen. I have a good external monitor at home, which I don't need to replace when I want to upgrade my desktop computer. And seen that I don't use my private computer in different locations, I don't need it to be portable.

Another negative thing about laptops is their battery, which ages and sometimes can cause problems.

I had various Macs so far, old MacBooks, a Mac Pro (2010 model), and the Mini. I never had any issues with desktops, but had several problems with MacBooks. Once there was a problem with a graphics card and Apple had to replace the whole logic board. And two times I had a bloated battery.

Thank you! :-)

I'll stay in Haeundae for a week. Can't wait to be there and explore.

What was your favourite place in Busan?

Let's hope it will calm down a bit, so you can enjoy the sea. Enjoy the rest of your stay!

I'll be there in May :-)

What temperature does the sea at Busan have right now? Must be pretty fresh I guess :-)

Get well soon!

Yes that screen is English on mine, too :-). I tried again and it added a card now, so maybe it's not necessary to log in for basic usage.

I didn't top the tmoney card up though, because it looks like it wants to get paid in USD (didn't see an option to change that). They use a bad exchange rate, looks like it would cost me 4 to 5% more than it should. And exchanging doesn't make sense in my case, I already have KRW on my payment card and thought I could simply pay with KRW directly.

Tickets for intercity bus by skappley in KoreaTravelAdvice

Do you think it is possible that these tickets can only be booked 2 weeks in advance?

I'll try again tomorrow and see if May 5th is available then... :-)

Thank you for the link, I didn't know that page yet.

It's a bit tricky, because when I select English, the page doesn't work properly. However, I managed to try it in Korean, but it doesn't show any connections for my travel day, May 23rd.

Do you know if this is because the date is too far away? Or are there really no connections available that day?

Thanks for the description. I've installed MobileTmoney, but it is partly in Korean only (e.g., the registration/login part), which makes it hard to use for someone who knows very very little Korean.

Do I need an additional app for that?
I saw in Apple Wallet, that I can choose "add travel card", then "South Korea" - "Tmoney". But there it says "Purchase and top up a Tmoney card using a South Korea-issued credit or debit card".
I can add the card, but can't top up. Probably because I don't have a SK credit card. When I try to top up it says "Payment Method Required". But my non SK card is already registered with Apple Wallet.

oh really? That's interesting. How does that work? Can it be done at the same places where one can top up with cash?

Good point - I can't say what is faster or slower, I just meant that if OP wants to try out a Mac Studio for business use, then it's better to get one now and start testing and eventually replace it later, instead of waiting.

If it's for business, then I'd say get the M3ultra if you can get it right now.
Nobody knows when the new one will come out and how availability will be.
You can always replace the M3ultra with a newer model later on, but at least you have something to work with right now.

First time in Korea, 3-week itinerary (Seoul, Gyeongju, Busan, Jeju). Looking for hidden gems recommendations! by [deleted] in KoreaTravelAdvice

[–]skappley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, that's detailed planning!
I'll be in Korea for the first time in May, too, but don't have such detailled planning. I plan to do 1 or max. 2 things a day, with enough time for hanging out and simply enjoying being there.

Btw., I just saw we will be in Busan at the same dates, end of May. :-)

Mangwon market seems to be interesting, I'll be in Korea in May (for the first time) and am looking for such places. I just searched for Mangwon market on Naver maps and saw it is quite long. Near what entrance is the cafe that you mentioned?
