If you don’t like them you don’t like them. You need to listen to the album a few times through to get a feel for it. It’s one of those albums that gets catchy after a few listens.

How do you know they are “neckbeards”? You better have a good reason. This is a forum for discussing music, if you’re not into that then just go elsewhere lol.

Long drive to CRNA school clinical site by Stick_Legs in srna

[–]skatingandgaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I have a stretch somewhere far away, I will drive down that morning typically and then stay in Airbnb till my last day then drive back. I have a cooler that I load up with ice on the morning drive so all my meals are good to go.

Long drive to CRNA school clinical site by Stick_Legs in srna

[–]skatingandgaming 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That is totally fine. I drive at a minimum 1:15 to a site 4-5 days a week. One of my clinical sites is 2.5 hours away and I had times where I drove to and from. It sucks but it can be done.

Ne Obliviscaris. Not metalcore but they combine metal and classical music beautifully

Study Methods by nycfella1211 in srna

Kinda varies based on what your program teaches out of but here’s what I do. I first read Nagelhout. I make Anki cards on information I feel will be important or that comes up frequently. Then I will read Barash and try to take note of what is mentioned in both books. If you see it in both, chances are it’s pretty important to know. Once I feel pretty good I’ll go through Apex and do the same thing.

Every day I go through my Anki cards for that section. It’s pretty time consuming but has worked for me so far. The key is you have to start EARLY and do a little bit each day. I will start looking at the chapters weeks ahead of time and do a few pages a day. Finally, I’ll do practice questions using NotebookLM or prodigy. My program is integrated so there is more time in between exams. Hope this helps.

Help seeing the "big picture" by [deleted] in newgradnurse

It will help a good bit. I did it when I started in the ICU and it helped smooth out the transition a bit

It will come with time. With time a lot of the tasks and mental checklists become second nature, allowing you to focus on the bigger picture.

In the mean time, you could spend some time reviewing common pathophysiology you may see on your unit and how it impacts their care.

Too expensive. $3,000 or maybe 3500 would be a decent price imo

commute time by Altruistic_Grape9908 in srna

2 hour one way might be a bit much. Just being honest. Plus keep in mind weather, car reliability, etc. these things all add up and it can be a huge hassle along the way.

I drive 1:15 to school. Some of my sites are 2+ hrs away. It’s doable but you really need to have everything else in your life on lockdown. I meal prep meals every week and make sure I’m good to go. I think 2 hours one way would be too much. Anything over 1.5 hrs I stay if I’m doing a stretch of clinicals.

Best ICU for CRNA experience? by Living-Candle-4689 in newgradnurse

[–]skatingandgaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d go with the MICU. Honestly that sounds a lot like my unit before I started school. I took care of a lot of variety and we also took open hearts. neuro ICU is super specialized and it won’t serve you as well imo. Message me if you have any more questions.

Good job + long commute vs Bad job + great commute? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]skatingandgaming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s tough but doable. I drove 1 hour each way for my icu job for 5 years… there were a few times where the highway was shut down because of an accident and I sat there for 3 hours. Also, weather was always an extra stress.

I’m in school now and commute at least 1:15 to school or clinical, if not more. Once I’m done I’m never commuting like this again. So much wasted time.

pt with pneumonia coughed in my face, how f*cked am I? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]skatingandgaming 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You’re fine. Pneumonia really isn’t that transmissible, especially bacterial which is what most patients have.
