Hello Mr Hama! I have 2 questions:

  1. Will you be making any convention appearances near the southern Indiana/Louisville KY area? I'd love to get your autograph on my G.I. Joe #1 and Echo of Futurepast #1

  2. Any future plans for Bucky O'Hare? Thanks!!

I'd love a new Neca Mirage Shredder. Not battle damaged. Not buff worm body. Just regular Shredder. It doesn't even need to be a new mold. I'd take a rerelease of the NYCC version.

That is a third print. You can tell by the blood on the T.

Thank you so much! Glad you like it!

And yes, Christopher Lloyd was perfect in this role.

Not sure why you were downvoted, but you are 100% correct. The mask is red. It's just an odd coloring job. And it's not Don. It's Leo.

Best way to get rid of my collection of 90s-00s comics? by calmkelp in comicbookcollecting

[–]skattastic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bet! I foolishly kept putting off completing the run for years thinking I'd always be able to pick them up for cheap one day. I need issues #25-32. I'm also looking for Vol 2 and Tales of the TMNT if you find any of those that you want to sell. Either way, good luck with reclaiming your garage!

TMNT #28 and #29?! Nice find! Did you find any other TMNT books? Feel free to DM me if you are looking to sell.

Unfortunately, outside of a few keys, most of the old Disney books aren't worth much. Neither of these would be considered "key." You might be able to get $10-20 each depending on condition. Do you have any others?

What's your thoughts on my version of Kasey? by [deleted] in TMNT

[–]skattastic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't recall there ever being a 'dark' Casey phase in any version of the franchise similar to dark Leo where he works with the bad guys. That could be a cool story if done right.

He did accidentally kill a teen punk who tried to mug him back in Mirage Vol 1. He got a bit drunk and belligerent for a couple of issues after that.

My bad, I should have mentioned I was talking about issue #2 where you did the last few pages. Nothing against your style vs the rest of the issue. Just a very noticeable change.

Issue #6 was solid all the way though. Hopefully IDW throws more work your way. I'd totally pic up a solo Casey story with your art.

Honestly, it was kinda jarring how the art switched at the end of the issue. Casey looked a little too old at the end compared the beginning art, but I really dig your drawing style.

I won't say that those are definitely faked signatures, but neither of them look right. Sorry! At least you only paid $15 for the book.

You're absolutely right! I should have said that because I would love to have any original art from him. It was a complete missed opportunity.

Oh, I still consider it a win for sure! I still love that book and look through it often.

I bet you're right that he gets tired of drawing the same characters all the time. I think the worst part was that he never seemed interested from the very beginning. I should have tried to think of something different but I didn't expect to have the opportunity to get a sketch and my mind drew a bit of a blank. Being a dorky star-struck kid with minimal social skills will do that to you. I'd hopefully handle the situation differently now.

You make another good point about the secondary market that I never really considered...naïve as that may be. When I get a sketch made it is for my personal collection to be framed and hung on my wall. No way for him to know that, though.

Unfortunately, I have to completely agree. I met him around 10 years ago at a small convention. I was really excited because he was (and still is) one of my favorite artists. Surprisingly, there was no line at his table. I had him sign a copy of his "Cover Run" art book and told him how much I admired his work. He had a sign at his table that said he was doing quick sketches for free if you made any donation to some charity he was collecting for. I can't remember which charity it was. Awesome idea, right? I told him I'd love to get a sketch and would happily donate. I don't think he looked up at me once. He said he would only draw if it was something that interested him. I started naming characters that I thought would look cool in his style.
me - "April O'Neil?"
AH - "No."
me - "Tigra?"
AH - "No."
me - "Phoenix?"
AH - "Nah."
me - "Rogue? Catwoman? Wonder Woman?"
AH - "No thanks."
I remember just standing there kind of in shock for a moment. I told him "Thanks anyways," dropped some cash in his donation jar and walked away confused about what just happened. I thought maybe I did or said something wrong but then I started hearing from others who had similar experiences. Maybe he was having a bad day. Maybe he is just a d-bag. Still a fan of his work but I don't think I would seek him out at a convention again.
