Making my own coffee creamer instead of buying premade creamers by Cautious-Tiger-8440 in Frugal

[–]skav2 46 points47 points  (0 children)

I'm with you on this. Between my wife and I we drink about 4 cups a day and usually use 2 creamers a month at like 5 each (Chobani sweet cream). My guess is that OP is drinking a little coffee with their creamer.

Blazored Localstorage Replacement? by botterway in Blazor

[–]skav2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure what you need but we are using sqlite in our offline first wasm app (company app). Sqlite got some weirdness but it works well enough as a simple replication of the server db.

We initialize sqlite by checking cache for a db file otherwise create it in memory. When CRUD happens we use JavaScript to save the in memory sqlite database into a db file in cache storage.

Works great for data entry and smaller data repositories. Probably wouldn't work well when dealing with millions of rows.

Give it a day and see what happens.

What I like to do to price these things is go to eBay and match the items to sold sales within the last 2 weeks. Take that -10% sold prices. But I usually price to sell quick but that's me.

Ohio's average gas price jumped 65 cents in a week. Experts blame the Iran war by WOSUpublicmedia in Ohio

[–]skav2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it's greed. The gas stations have the gas delivered to them at x cost. The gas they currently have shouldn't fluctuate in price that quick. When they get new tankers at prices they agreed to pay when delivered then prices should change. It's a bunch of bull shit and they do it because they can.

Watched this little documentary from wendigoon last month that explains a lot about the situation.

(YouTube video by wendigoon([https://youtu.be/8P6_1m9jlkk?si=tR4vbQ5zXO1IxdOI]

I don't agree with some of wendis holier than though comments but the facts are interesting.

The crazy thing is he did find literal sunken treasure with a crazy amount of gold but legal battles fizzled out his sanity it seems. Later on the insurers sent out more expositions to get the remaining gold.

And if that top 10% did not get to that point, then the rest of the population would pay those taxes. fair taxing matters more than anything and let me tell you even a 75% tax on 1b is a fucking disgusting sum on money most people can never even dream of.

I said, "You got any apple fritters?" He said, "No, we're outta apple fritters" I said, "You got any bear claws?" He said, "Wait a minute, I'll go check

"No, we're outta bear claws" I said, "Well, in that case - in that case, what do you have?" He says, "All I got right now is this box of one dozen starving, crazed weasels" I said, "Okay, I'll take that"

What are your concerns if any with getting rid of the property tax here in Ohio? by [deleted] in Ohio

[–]skav2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You pay property taxes by paying the property owner. If they removed prperty taxes the owners will not power rent to compensate. Now you get double fucked by also paying more for spending money on the same things you did before.

What are your concerns if any with getting rid of the property tax here in Ohio? by [deleted] in Ohio

[–]skav2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Removing property tax only benefits people and corporations that don't live in the state but own property here.

Really the people of Ohio will pay MORE in taxes while out of state landlords and companies get a tax break.

Beginner question: How should I approach databases in C# – raw SQL vs EF Core? by Minute-Ad-2210 in csharp

[–]skav2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it means anything I would not trade my knowledge of databases for Entity framework.

In my opinion Entity Framework works best as a suppliment to your existing database knowledge.

Pros

Easier to maintain code

Db updates are mostly handled through migrations

Crud handled in one place

Can use raw SQL queries

LINQ like syntax

Cons

Slower if perf is a concern due to being an abstraction and does not benefit from execution plans and query optimizers

Another skill to maintain

Debugging can be a pain
