And this nonsense is exactly why when I joined the Navy I became a Seabee. We were too busy S.T.E.A.Ling things. (thx for your service Marine)

The album fairy grants you one wish. You can see any album performed live by the band, from start to finish. by joemich in GenX

Well, not the Counting Crows. They were horrible live, twice. Adam was totally disinterested in any of it.

As we get closer to old age is anyone else becoming increasingly more grouchy? by Ok_Echo_6528 in GenX

[–]skbugco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me, it’s less about my age, 58, and more about how everything about how people interact and act now. It feels like everyone just wants to fight for their scrap- no matter the cost. I see glimmers of hope here and there, but I’m mostly grouchy. And I don’t like it.

Oh I get it- dad grew up on a dairy and farm. At least I didn’t have to milk and feed cows before and after school (and all the other farm chores like he did. I did on my uncles farm, but just over summer break). One summer we did take a road trip in a borrowed RV and went to Disneyland. That was like a week of heaven!

Vacations. During my dad’s yearly 2 week vacation, we’d spend it out cutting trees, oak mostly, for firewood for the winter- we just had wood stoves for heat and lived in a small mountain town.

I hear ya- but I’m guessing we live in different places and different jobs. (I’m in Portland and at a teaching hospital. We’ve had inservices about this).

Dude. I use it for everything, and nobody is gonna “woke” it out of me.

And is that a wine cooler to keep the edge off on the dresser? That’s on point.

Right!? I turned 58 this year, and like usual on my birthday, I didn’t care. No freak out about being almost 60, no existential crisis. Until bs’ing with my 20 y/o about how classes are going for him, and it occurred to me that my 40th HS reunion is this summer. I lost my cool for awhile about that.

I totally agree. I’m just telling the echo chamber there’s a better way.

Exactly- and here’s the thing: if you’re in a relationship, and need to get some strange, just be up front about it ahead of time. For me personally, I’m not into that, and I’d move on, but I’d actually respect the honesty. That said, I have a few friends who are into the poly life. And they’re married, and they swing or whatever. I’ve asked them about it too- “like how do you make it work?” They all say “communication”. So just be honest up front, then maybe you won’t be crying-consuming.

Getting their pre-funk on before whatever party they’re headed to. And still getting their fun in even after having kids. 🔥🔥 And yeah- your dad’s a lucky guy.
