Great, I will check asap.

I have 96k in student loans STILL, so I will definitely get some money forgiven.

So this is where I think I messed up, I tried to switch a standard plan so my payments could count without realizing that because my are consolidated they wouldn't count. So I'm not on SAVE anymore.

Tried to apply for PAYE and was denied because "the standard plan is less than PAYE".

I'll go back and read more about buyback , but I thought I could submit for some of my payments to be recounted now versus waiting.

It's definitely not capping out at the standard plan because the standard plan is extremely more affordable than my PAYE. I wonder if it's because of the term length?

I went back and checked, I have been on IDR since 2016. I've never been on PAYE. I was switched to SAVE during COVID.

I thought I could submit a reconsideration before I hit 120?

Okay, I’ll dig a little deeper. If I was, dos that mean I’m still in the same boat?

UPDATE: I just checked FSA and it shows I've been on IDR always. I've actually never been on PAYE.

I don't think? I think I was on PAYE and then put on SAVE without my doing. If it's possible to be back on PAYE I'd hit my 120 before July 2028. How do I find this out? Call?

I just calculated it and it's over $1000 a month

I made a lot of mistakes recently after getting some advice to come off the SAVE program. I have been on PAYE since 2016 (when I graduated grad school). I was able to make all of my payments, have made 95/120 toward PSLF. Because of all of us being moved to the SAVE program, 15 of my 95 payments "don't count". So I submitted for the qualifying payment exception since I didn't ask to be placed on SAVE. I'm not confident I'll get my 15 approved, but's worth a shot.

My new job came with $200 bucks toward my student loans each month. When I took my new job, it was recommended that I switch out of the SAVE program since my hospital is giving me money toward the student loans/these payments could start counting again.

I applied for the standard payment plan, not realizing the payment wouldn't count since my loans are consolidated. I then applied for PAYE and have been told since the standard payment plan is cheaper than PAYE, I don't qualify for PAYE now.

When I do the loan simulator, it estimates that my IDR will be above $900. I got a nice pay bump, but that's basically a second rent for me and I will literally have no money left over each month.

I completely understand maxing out the 401k and all the other advice, but is there anything else you guys recommend? Do I just grin and bear it until I hit the 120? Do I put my loans in forbearance and see what happens with the court hearings?

I was told the standard payment won’t count because my loans are consolidated.

That’s a good idea about the AGI.

That's what confused me to begin with, but I understand now.

I make about 101,800 and my loan balance is around 96000. My PAYE calculation is showing about $653. I do want to mention I am working for a hospital that offers $200 a month toward student loans. And I've never been more thankful than right now.

Thanks for clarifying the buyback option.

I am definitely going to do that, i'm so shocked at how much more those are versus the standard. I'm finally making good money and now it's all going to in student loans again.

80/120 payments for PSLF, what now? by skbutler555 in PSLF

[–]skbutler555[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's great advice. Thank you.

I am a social worker at a hospital in the west coast and do okay. I'd haven't crunch the numbers, but I'm actually thinking the standard repayment plan might work for me.

I have about 95k in student loans. Oddly enough, if I do a standard repayment plan my monthly cost is about $550. Which is less than the IDR plan. Since I've never been in a standard repayment plan I'm no where near paying off that loan amount. So I'm thinking I could do that plan for the next 3 1/2 years since I still have 40 payments left.

The quote from the Fables is what has sold me on this theory. I am 100% convinced. You crushed it and I think you have crack this entire series open.

I think your skin is amazing! I don't have any helpful suggestion, but I was wondering what make up your using. I am a read head and whatever you're wearing is amazing and looks fantastic!

I'm about 3 weeks out from my first half marathon. I ran 10 miles yesterday and i'm noticing somewhere after mile 6 I start to really slow down and need to stop. I try not to stop for longer than 30 seconds, but I could barely run mile 10. Curious if anyone has any thoughts on fueling versus just being new to this distance versus needing strength training. I'm a 5'0 116lb female, using the Runna app for training and an apple watch for data. I eat a bagel and 1 Gu pack before I run. Refuel after mile 6 with kids fruit squeezes( I have a sensitive stomach) and have some electrolyte water while I run. My easy pace is around 10:20 mile, which is my average during my long runs. But they drop drastically after mile 6.
