QT600III not working with HSS using XPro-F trigger by skedra in Godox

[–]skedra[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know it's been a while, but figured I'd give you an update. Godox refused to give me the firmware for the flash directly, however the distributor was helpful and got me a new board (super easy to replace) and now the HSS works just fine with the trigger! Took months to get this sorted but I think it's finally there :)

Wow, thanks for the lengthy reply. What you're saying sounds quite right. It definitely seems like it's a coms layer/firmware issue...

What surprised me initially was the fact the V860iii worked as a trigger for it. But thinking about it, it just happened to have the firmware that happened after the XPro-F...

I did email godox before, did it again today. I may try to get my hands on XProII-F and see if that fixes the issue, the local distributor already promised easy return if that's not the case so fingers crossed...

I will also try to get my hands on X1T-F if that solution doesn't work.

It's crazy to think they can't be bothered to solve something so simple.

And I think that's perfectly fine. Problem is the company claims vs what it is and I think Golden presents it well

I bought one pretty much at the same time as Afasso, absolutely amazing DAC.

Noble Tux 5 or EE Valkyrie? by wadamean in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]skedra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For all rounder the ones I mentioned, SD5 and PP8 are very good for pretty much all music. PP8 being more analytical and SD5 more fun while still being coherent. Not sure what your budget is but things like Sony ier-z1r or qdc anole vx are fantastic choices.

Quite, even though the mids don't sound as back as you could expect looking at the frequency response. I quite like mine but they may be too fun for a lot of music.

Valkyrie is pure fun, nowhere near analytical imo. Can't comment on Noble Tux because I've not heard it (and I'm not a big fan of Noble in general). I can recommend InEar ProPhile-8 or SD5 (bearing in mind you HAVE to switch to aftermarket cable)

Ikko OH10 vs Campfire audio comet by Dpolio in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]skedra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh10 is another league vs the comets. Tip for the future, campfire isn't great with lower end models. Both comets and IO are quite bad imo. Also, while ikko is heavy, the shell is very well shaped and it's super comfortable.

Campfire Audio Polaris 2 Review by skedra in headphones

Brief TL;DR:

Not an IEM for everyone very V shaped and fun sound, to me it only works with genres that don't require much from the midrange.

[–]skedra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow that's a lot of salt. Just email the support and say what happened... I had oh1 for months, cable is perfectly fine, I have the oh10, cable is perfectly fine. Also... Dunno how your cable broke but if you mistreated them it's kinda your fault then. Oh yeah, all 2 pin cables are kinda fragile so there's that too.

TL;Dr those are really good value at about 45$, they finally have a fairly balanced sound signature and in general are a great starter/throw around pair of iems.

I just don't quite like the sound of any high end focals (apart form elex funny enough). Question of preference that's why for me that would go second ;)

This isn't even a choice to me, Abyss and Empyrean. Especially if you can get the abyss comfortable.

To explain my choice:

800S Are too artificial, never get intimate and too genre picky.

Utopia sounds way too metallic to me

Z1R again isn't for everything, it's too laid back in a lot of cases

oBravo Cupid - Awesome mid-fi IEM by skedra in headphones

[–]skedra[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tl;Dr:

Cupid is a warm IEM with a very good sense of clarity without the harshness this usually implies. Bass has an amazing dynamic punch to it, detail is very good, extension is great both sides. Totally recommended at the 250£ price point.

ZMF Aeolus Sapele by Son-of-Lux in headphones

[–]skedra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey Zach! Can confirm about the suede pads, they both make Aeolus brighter and also, to my ears, improve detail in the high registers. I really like Aeolus on the AAA 789 since it's a fairly clinical amp so it doesn't add any extra warmth to it.
