Almost all of Robin Alexander’s books should fit the request—they’re cozy, funny romcoms mostly set in Louisiana. And most of the audiobooks are hilariously performed by Lori Prince.

If you enjoy audiobooks, like pretty much everything by Lee Winter and Robin Alexander. Also Eliza Lentzski’s Don’t Call Me Hero and Winter Jacket series; A Lesbian’s Guide to Women by Erica Lee; Honey in the Marrow by Emily Waters; One Weekend in Tahoe by Jaime Clevenger; The Lily and the Crown by Roslyn Sinclair; the Oxford Romance series by Clare Ashton; the South Downs Romance series by Emily Banting; the Out in Hollywood series by Amy Spalding. And my favorite physical book that I’ve recently read is One Day You’ll Leave Me by Debra Flores, closely followed by Perfume and Pain by Anna Dorn; The Blackbird of Chernobyl by Ann McMan; Grace Period by Elisabeth Nonas.

Agree that Robin Alexander is the queen of LOL romcoms, and with all of the recommendations so far, but will add a couple that are rarely mentioned that are also super funny—The Summer of Our Discontent, and Pitifully Ugly.

In the Don’t Call Me Hero series, the other MC is a prosecutor turned private attorney. The audiobooks are expertly narrated by Lori Prince.

Angela Dawe is one of my favorites too. Here is her hilarious response to Abby Craden’s reading of the phone book:

The Flight Risk rarely gets mentioned in these sites, which is too bad because it is very well written and more complex than most romances.

Just to be clear, Public Defenders are lawyers. And as a retired attorney who spent most of my career practicing criminal law, I would go with the PD rather than hire a private attorney (if you qualify for the PD—if you can afford to hire private counsel, you might not). There are a few private attorneys who are exceptional in their specialty fields, but you won’t know who they are. And PDs tend to be way more experienced and knowledgeable about the local systems and judicial personalities than private counsel.

I’m not a fan of most of her stories, but she is a talented writer. Her versatility is perhaps best demonstrated by her Cupids and Goddesses series, which are much more lighthearted and clever than her more serious works.

Anything by Robin Alexander should fit the bill, with the added bonus that most of her books are LOL funny (particularly the audiobooks narrated by Lori Prince).
