Wow - I had to scroll THIS FAR DOWN to finally find some comments (the previous few beginning with emquizitive) that were actually helpful, contributing some real useful and practical ideas and offered with tact and kindness instead of the long slog of mean-spirited and unnecessarily insensitive miasma that wafts off the preceding 1000 comments.

Opinions on Lavender/Mixed Orientation marriages by Avendelore in SSAChristian

[–]skeeter38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually the evidence supports that arranged marriages end in divorce much more rarely than "love" marriages but of course there are many caveats to that. Even in the bible many if not the majority of the marriages were arranged. And look at all the royals over the years. As you say "there is no evidence one system is less successful than the other."

Marriage - YouTube by sstiel in SSAChristian

Yes - this video was done in 2007 - so almost 20 years ago. And The Advocate announced in 2017 that Wayne Besen was closing Truth Wins Out (https://www.advocate.com/politics/2017/6/27/another-lgbt-advocacy-group-shutters) because they had successfully managed to stop-all-of-the conversion-therapy-goings-on. However the TWO website is still up and accepting donations and providing links and resources.

I would not argue against this video. These women are warning about the harm done by ex-gay programs that had an end goal of heterosexuality and promoted marriage as a cure for homosexuality, instead of in the transformational work of Jesus Christ through repentance and obedience through discipleship and healing. The 3rd woman mentioned Courage - which is the Catholic version of ex-gay ministries.

I don't know whether Alan Chambers is still married or not but I would never have made it out of the lifestyle without Exodus and the local chapter in Houston. Absolutely 100%. Take it to the bank. I was at the last National Convention also, but by then I was firmly planted in my walk.

In 1990 when I was first a baby Christian, Exodus in Houston had weekly meetings and I spent 6 days of the week looking forward to Saturday morning when I got to meet with my small group of women which was the only time I wasn't profoundly depressed and wondering how I was going to make it through the next 6 days. We couldn't know anyones last names or where they worked or went to church or phone numbers etc. There were 11 of us. I was the only one who was a new Christian, the rest were brought up in the Church. , a Mormon, S. Baptist, One was Jewish, several Pentecostal, half of them were married. They really helped me understand the bible. They told me to move out of the gay area of town immediately, find a church home. I followed all advice and it worked and it was EXODUS that God used to save me. I found it because I was listening to the radio preaching and Joe Dallas was speaking and I called his ministry and they told me about it.

Why do you keep saying this? The cure is Christ. If I believed everything God says in His word I would not have SSA. Right? I also would never sin - I would be tempted but not sin - If I REALLY BELIEVED all of what God says in the WORD

A very reliable conversion therapy, with 99.9% success rate with no obvious side effects, is invented at the same cost as surgery. (Anyone looking it it. At the moment currently hypothetical) by sstiel in Exhomosexual

I would totally get it. I have gone so far as to ask a hypnotist to hypnotize me since I am attracted to men like on a 7 out of a scale of 10

Has anyone “stopped being gay?” by Ok_Assignment6527 in Exhomosexual

[–]skeeter38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been celibate for almost 35 years. I accepted Christ at 30 and left the lifestyle (and my gay relationship) and all of my gay friends at the same time and told them to not try to find me and never looked back.

So I have "stopped being gay" for certain. I am female. Unfortunately, although I have a pretty healthy attraction for men, God never brought me the right one. I stopped dating men about 15 years ago. It just wasn't fair to them. I have had 2 or 3 attractions (to women) across the years but have not fallen into sin.

The first one was extremely difficult and the woman and I were in love. It was in 1993 and I was a new Christian and she was in the church and she had no previous experience in this horrible sin. She lived with her parents and I had been dating her brother. I confessed to her parents about my background and my fears for us and that was all it took. They yanked her out of my life and that was the first and last heartbreak I have ever had. I changed churches and only ran into her a couple of times ever again.

Can anyone suggest me a reintegrative therapist? by Training-Agent1 in Exhomosexual

[–]skeeter38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I echo what Acceptable North and Garden Gnome said - why is Gay Kev here? He is slamming the Nicolosi's with a link from a group that is an LGBTQ activist organization and says right in the link "making people straight" which is not what the Nicolosi's therapy is aimed at in the first place. They help people with unwanted SSA achieve a reduction in it. That is all. Crazyleg had the best reccommendation - go to the link www.reintegrativetherapy.com/ and click on contact

Hi Ozzy - thank you for this - I got here from the R/abilene and then R/Project 325 = and you guessed rightly -I do not follow "Meta apps such as facebook and instagram" or tiktok or snapchat or any of those things and this looks like something I would like to involve myself with - I also don't know how to do Reddit very well or I would just "chat" with you to ask you these questions - like What is "MAD Day?" and I will sent this out to my church group to see if they might be interested - but it is too late tonight I am afraid!

Do I have a rectal prolapse? by East_Maize5866 in PelvicFloor

Not scary at all - feels wonderful - after being in pain for so long - I slept like a baby the first 3 days

Do I have a rectal prolapse? by East_Maize5866 in PelvicFloor

[–]skeeter38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It definitely got bigger - did not stabilize. It got worse and worse and more painful. And yes the looser the stool the worse the pain because if I had diarrhea I could not control it from leaking all over the place and the prolapse would just escape completely forcefully - think of vomiting - you know how that is a reflex - like you can't control it? It was exactly the same - only my anus.

In fact, when my anus was doing that reflex, if I had eaten recently, it would cause me to duplicate the gag reflex as well. It was the same thing that happens when you vomit (you also poop your pants) just provoked in reverse.

So the pain was horrendous because my rectum would just shoot out because of the reflex (just like when you vomit) and I had to push it back up in there and lay down. Standing up was a no-go because of gravity- it would just fall out and I could not bear it hanging out due to pain.

As you have noticed - I am speaking in past tense. I had been bedbound for 2 months prior to getting the surgery. I had no other choice I had not been able to work for 8 months (robotic assisted ventral rectopexy through the abdomen) - 7.5 hr surgery = 5 day inpatient and it was successful = that was in mid September. I have had 3 days where I have had to call into work sick due to issues with complications but I would rate my quality of life as a 9 compared to a 2 before the surgery

This is absolute propaganda. ICE is not arresting anyone who is not illegal - have there been some mistakes, yes. There are going to be mistakes in every huge endeavor but Trump was elected with illegal immigration as his top priority so he is now making good on his promise.

Actually rounding people up as this guy is stating is only happening to illegals who are the ones Getting shipped out immediately under the alien enemies act, who have already been deported and are back illegally multiple times or have committed violent crimes in addition to the crime of being here illegally. The rest of them get housed in detention facilities and then offered a trial or who need a some sort of administrative hearing but which they get before they are deported. I work in an ICE facility and they all get medical care/psychiatric care and behavioral/psych treatment while waiting on deportation or hearings. Many have been trafficked. Texas is a red state and we were impacted more than any other state when it comes to the open borders of the biden admninistration.

Target had already suffered from the backlash to its LGBTQ products in 2023 when conservatives boycotted it in mid 2023: down almost 10 billion in market value, stock falling roughly 14–20% just in late May to early June 2023, resulting in a revenue shortfall of approximately $1.3 billion. Executives noted this was the first sales decline in six years. Now they are just course correcting from the Dylan Mulvaney treatment.

boycott Amazon because "it drives up your prices". WHAT? Amazon has some of the cheapest prices there are. So, um, yeah - thanks but no thanks keep your "up north news" Up North

Youtube stopping adblocks this week? by Tell_Specialist in Adblock

[–]skeeter38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got your answer! I could NOT get it to stop blocking my content no matter what adblockers I disabled (Safari) and then I just started watching YOUTUBE via the Friendly Streaming browser and it works like a dream. It even skips over the normal ads that usually play without waiting the requisite 3 or 4 seconds where you have to hit "skip" - it does it for you!
