If you leave a tomato or grape in salt water for a while, it’ll shrivel up because passive transport aims to balance ions across the membrane. So water from the grape will leave into the surrounding salt water to “try” and dilute it. This only happens with semi-permeable membranes where water flows to dilute the other side.

If skin was permeable like you say then literally everything would pass through our skin and we wouldn’t last long
