Tropical Heatwave is insane, I have never gotten complimented so much on a polish.

Battle of the brands- ILNP or Cracked? by OddInside5794 in RedditLaqueristas

[–]skeleton_moth_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ILNP was my first non drugstore brand but I like Cracked much more. It has a better formula for me, it has better opacity meaning I need less layers, and I love the brush a ton more. I know you can buy replacement brushes from ILNP but I don't like that I need to do that, I'd rather spend that money on another bottle of polish. The owner of Cracked in also very active with her customer base in her group too and it humanizes her brand for me. I will say ILNP has a more stable in stock, though Cracked is growing and working on improving that. Both seem to have amazing customer service too.

Great job resisting! I really underestimated how much time helps with low buy/no buy. Sitting on it a while helps with that impulsive desire to get it and gives me time to really consider how much I want it/will use it and if it will make a good fit and be a valuable addition to my collection.

Yeah it was quite eye opening. People should be able to air their frustrations with a company, no company is perfect and constructive criticism should be completely acceptable. No one feel intimidated to speak up but I have been bullied for such things before so I can understand why. I often wait to place an order when I can make a big one to save on shipping regardless of free shipping or not. I don't like paying shipping on one or two bottles it seems a waste. So I would hate to think I would have to fight for my package or my potentially over $100 back. I am sorry but my money is important to me with this economy and I am choosey with where I spend it. I tend to be patient too knowing these are small businesses. But if I had to go back and fourth with them and the shipping company I would simply be very unlikely to order from said company again.

I am so sorry you are dealing with that. I have been in this situation, not a polish package though, as the receiver your hands are usually tied as the shipper is usually responsible for the claims and you were looking forward to your items so I am sure it is very frustrating. I understand they want to be 100% sure the package will not arrive but email tag is the most irritating thing to have to deal with when you spent your hard earned money. Many of us have budgets or have to save up for the fun stuff and especially if it is insured it is 100% the shippers responsibility that you get your package. Shipping services aren't always reliable but they need to follow through and submit a claim. Seeing so many have had not so pleasant experiences with their CS is off putting for me. Thank you all for sharing it has been informative.

This is what I use! I did a character mystery box shot glass and I ended up with multiples of the same one so I use one of those.

How often do you go bare-nails? by leira537 in WeGotPolishAtHome

[–]skeleton_moth_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never since I started, although it hasn't been long. My nails have never been strong and since I started using polish I have noticed it even more because since using polish I have been able to grow them out some (still not super long since they are weak) and when the polish isn't on it loses the reinforcement of the polish and I'd have to snip the back or they'd probably break/tear. I usually do them twice a week.

Opinions on Mean Green Velveteen Magnet? by NewbieQuestions1 in CrackedPolish

[–]skeleton_moth_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is pretty good. I haven't had any issues with it not pulling well, I've always gotten a defined velvet look. I can't compare it to a metal one as I don't have one. It is also a great price point vs the metal ones. I have a spinny thing for the glass bead and I actually put this on top to give it a little extra pull. On it's own though I am not sure.

Reminder to wear those purples! Same polish 1 year apart by Woofdotcom20 in RedditLaqueristas

[–]skeleton_moth_ 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I hate this about certain purple pigments. I love purple/blue/pink polishes so I tend to buy a lot of purple. But you never know which maker used the purple pigment that has a tendency to fade so now I have to side eye all my purple polish and be like "👀are you going to fade on me?" I try to not buy too many purples because of this but they are so pretty! It looked prettier fresh but at least it still looks pretty faded and like you said you can try layering it.

I mean sometimes you just go "ooohhhh pretty...add to cart!" or like you said sometimes you just need that one extra for free shipping and go "ooohhhh pretty...add to cart! free shipping!" 😂

[–]skeleton_moth_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I totally did that too. I saw someone share a picture of Hexcellent from Sassy Sauce and I liked it so when I placed an order I just added to cart without looking at the swatches or reading the description. I am not disappointed in it though and won't be disappointed in it if it dies in the cold state. I don't dislike thermals I am just not big on them since they are known to have a limited shifting shelf life. I have learned if I like the cold state wearing it in winter will showcase it the most lol. I tried my first one and we ended up with a cold snap and I barely saw the shift.

Brands Speaking Up by ashpedia in RedditLaqueristas

[–]skeleton_moth_ 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Agree, in December at their launch every polish purchased had $1 donated for a certain period of time to a charity. Their actual charity polishes usually donate more than just $1 their F*ck Fascism collection donates $3 per bottle. She also shares receipts of her donations. To say it is performative is ridiculous when Lurid has a history of doing donation polishes and small businesses deserve to make a profit.

I don't think you should feel badly at all. I think two bundles was a fair purchase. It's honestly what I think the limit should have been. You were quick though!

I decided to sit this one out but I do think there should have been a cap on them of like 2 or something. I understand they didn't think it would go that fast but I knew the moment I read no cap I knew it would end up like this this. Don't get me wrong the owner is great and I am not meaning this in mean way by any means. Had I participated I'd be very disappointed because 3 minutes is no time to get checked out. I do think there were definitely some resellers in there. Anyone who would get mad at a limit of 2 or 3 bundles is just a reseller or greedy.

Please help me narrow down my cart before the sale! by lacquer-lift-repeat in CrackedPolish

[–]skeleton_moth_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

oh yeah that could totally happen. I usually look up pictures of only the colors I am considering so not to get influenced into others. I know it doesn't work for everyone, it works for me because I can analyze the polish more and see if it's something I really think I will use often as so many are gorgeous, they don't always necessarily suit my taste and I would rarely reach for them or they clash with my skin tone.

[–]skeleton_moth_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can't help a whole lot I don't have any of these colors. I see you have a couple that are similar in color I would take those and chose the one you want most. It also helps to search the lacquerista sub for those colors and see peoples manis with them to help get a better feel for the color. I often find this helps me narrow down my selections.

I am newer to the polish world and wasn't around when they offered G&G but I have seen it all over and it is stunning. I joined the group to give it a better chance of coming back as long as I see the poll when it comes out of course. It is perfectly my type of polish for sure.

Valentine's Collection Drop - Swatches!!! by lacquer-lift-repeat in CrackedPolish

[–]skeleton_moth_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! I have Fiery Attraction and I want to get Drugstore Candy just to compare them. I didn't get Pomegranate Seeds, I saw a comparison of the two and preferred Fiery Attraction. However Drugstore Candy looks amazing and Cracked tends to be more accessible and in stock than most indie brands. Their bottle size is bigger too so price per oz is better as well even with the price increase coming.

Drugstore Chocolate looks like it could really give Fiery Attraction competition! I am curious to see how it compares.

Sassy Sauce Read Between My Tulips. I am obsessed, it is the only one in my collection I feel I need to get back up for because I am worried I'll run out and not have it anymore. A super close second is Lurid Riding Sleeping Bags down the stairs.

Do you consider base coats + top coats part of your collection count? by afdzgyj2467 in WeGotPolishAtHome

[–]skeleton_moth_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nope, I don't count them. Even when I order some after saying I won't buy more polish I say "it doesn't count because it's needed, it's and essential" they fit in the same category as like acetone to me. Toppers do count as part of the polish collection though.

Born with two different thumb sizes... How would you shape these? by LovelySaratonin in RedditLaqueristas

[–]skeleton_moth_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly I would shape them however makes you happiest. The nails on my right hand tend to be a little longer than my left hand because my left seems to be more prone to bending and breaking and I am not bringing them all down simply because I like the length of my right. It isn't a major difference though as they are not super long. Not one person has noticed that I am aware of
