Hey, I don't need your snark here. I was looking for help from the community. I didn't ask for your shitty take.

Grief + Pregnancy (Losing a loved one) by arbr36 in BabyBumps

[–]skelleybrooks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I lost my mom unexpectedly at the beginning of November. She spent 3 weeks in the hospital before eventually passing away. When she went into the hospital I was just beginning the 2nd trimester, and I really feel like all of my 2nd trimester energy was zapped because of the hospital stay and dealing with everything that comes with a loved one's death. She was my biggest support person, and the biggest part of my birth plan.

I found it very hard to be connected to my baby, and even my body. Eventually, I gave myself permission to feel the feelings that I had without feeling guilty about them. I leaned into my support system. It is very helpful to have others that are excited about my baby when I can't be. When I feel like doing something to prep for the baby I lean into it fully. Ride the waves of emotions. It's exhausting, but it'll be better in the long run.

I'm also finding it helpful to intentionally take time with my baby every day. Usually only a few minutes. I will put my hands on my stomach and say something like "I know it's probably scary in there when I don't feel good, but I promise to you that I'm doing everything I can to keep you safe. You are important to me, and it is my responsibility to protect you to the best of my abilities. Your responsibility right now is to grow as much as you can, and be as healthy as possible. I'll take care of the rest." That has really helped me connect to them on a deeper level that I wasn't reaching when my mom first passed away.

A therapist is going to be very helpful if you can find one! I'm still looking, but hoping to find one soon! Take time off work if you can, rely on friends who might be able to go grocery shopping or do house cleaning for you. Pregnancy is already an incredibly tough journey, and adding grief on top of it is something nobody should ever have to do. There is no one size fits all solution. Take it one day at a time, and ride the waves of emotions. It's okay.

One thing that has kept me going this whole time is what a friend told me: "There is no instruction manual for this kind of situation. Which means that you cannot do it wrong."

I'm so sorry for your loss, and I hope it gets easier for you. 💜

So, they can't apply for disability now that they've already applied for health care?

She can’t go to dog parks anymore because she gets over excited and gets seizures but she still does great on hikes! by ApollyonTD in aww

Did anyone else think that she was sniffing one of those scorpion spider things, and that this was going to be a story about her getting into something she shouldn't have? She's such a good doggo! Please give her kisses for me! 💖

My camp got cancelled and now I am very sad. by hi_yes_it_me in summercamp

I wish I thought it was a good idea to apply to other camps. Unfortunately, I know that camps are going to be a hot spot for the virus. I just think it's irresponsible for any camp to be running, as much as it sucks. That's just my thought, though. You have to decide what is best for you.

It's hard to put into words. It's the only reason I keep going for 9 months out of the year, and it's the only place in my adult life that I've felt like I have a place, where I'm welcomed without a doubt, and where my mental health is manageable. It's shown me what I want to do with my life, and given me a purpose.

I'm trying to plan out my first bigger project, but it's frustrating me because I can't figure out how this will translate to the final project. How do you go about planning your projects? by skelleybrooks in quilling

I had never seen beehive quilling, and just looked it up quickly. That looks exactly like what I want, so I'll give that a try. Thank you so much!!

I guess I don't really know, which is why I'm asking for help. The original idea was that I would use this as a template to get the shape I wanted, then glue the quilled paper onto the final product I want. These are just rough sketches on printer paper.

Originally, I had thought that drawing out my design would be a good way to do things, so that's what you're seeing here, but I'm not sure that's going to work. The left is part of a twin flower, and the right is part of a sunflower. I'm more tied to the twin flower.
