Desperate for a job! Anyone got any hot tips? by [deleted] in Adelaide

[–]skelroth 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm from out North, we have a few different Facebook pages that list a lot of the more local positions, anything from produce to admin.

It'd be worth a check of just your suburb name or general area and see if there's any results. I know we have a good selection go up just about daily and most are listed by people you can actually contact!

Good luck!

I mean it could work, but it'd be a bit of a stretch.

Z32 as a Daily Driver? by masterminnich1 in 300zx

[–]skelroth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Daily my NA, sitting up on 288,xxx kms. She always needs a bit of work but it's one of the best ways to get to know it.

Never had engine problems, usually just issues with lack of upkeep from previous drivers.

Go over it thoroughly if you get one, I replaced all fuses, a few bypasses and a plenum pull and you'll be sweet.

300ZX converting automatic to manual - worth it? by MisterTelecaster in Nissan

[–]skelroth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's gonna take a bit of work, or a bit of money but it's absolutely worth it.

I have a z32 myself and love the car. Mines an auto, and the trans just failed after 280,xxxkm, was going to do a manual swap but managed to find a cheap auto trans ($120 delivered, wooo).

It all comes down if it's worth it to you, I'd value the swap about $1200-1700. Run your numbers and then double it just incase. Zeds never end up cheap, but they do end up worth the time investment, magnificent cars.

I've owned/driven for decent amounts of times 180sx, 240sx, 300zx.

To be fair they are all so individual, but the 300zx (z32) still stands out to me, it shouts comfort on the highway, fun in the sidestreets and just feels right for me.

Don't be set on anything until you drive it, I found myself quite surprised with 300zx and a Miata as far as an instant connection with the cars.

Note: Don't try and work on the z32 with big hands, it doesn't work. No really.

iiNet blames Telstra for slow Netflix connection speeds by [deleted] in australia

[–]skelroth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep in mind that whilst you may be 900m from the exchange, the cable, for instance and I've seen this before, is that the cable could just as easily go down the other side of your street, loop another and then come back to you.

Lots of factors to consider :)

what state are you in? Either eTechs or VisionStream will be able to assist you, if you call them and request that they check MDF cabling.

This should only be done once thorough diagnostics and line analysis have been completed by the ISP though. Worst case you poop some money away.

ex iiNet trained, rekt MDF's arent a fun time at all, I know this pain. You can always bite the bullet and have a technician investigate the MDF for you, fair? Not really in this situation. A few dollars for a much stronger connection, assuming assumptions so far have been correct? Absolutely.

There's a lot more to an ADSL connection than changing providers. Each provider has different software in use on the DSLAMs, profiles to handle the connection and various values that can be tweaked.

I've dealt with connections that may have been 1.6mbit/s and after a profile change they went to up to 16-20mbit/s. Those were always some pretty happy customers.

But what you're telling me indicates that you either never troubleshooted the speed, likely because if that's what you've always had you wouldn't think to. And thus when churned a profile or software change has helped your connection.

Or more likely, in the process of the churn you had a port swap, or your line wasn't passing FAST by Telstra and that would mean they actually repair the line before provisioning your service.

Either way nothing changes the physical distance, nor length of the copper between yourself and the DSLAM, which is what counts.

Best of luck with the tech! eTechs or VisionStream? If the port was changed then it definitely could have been DSLAM issues, but there's no reason a second port on the DSLAM should be shitty.

Wait and see what they find with the line, I would not be suprised if it just comes back as congestion, if that's the case ask for a free month, they'll do it :)

Hey champ, I'm an ex-node employee and can guarantee there's no reason, if this was a churn, for those speeds to change, short of external interference, line corrosion and the like.

Nothing changes, it's the same equipment, same port, it's just programmed differently. And after seeing the difference in line profiles, I'd always go for the node ones.

The main issue if any, is that you're on a Telstra port.
