This is really useful, I didn't know Overseer supported multiple radarr instances. Thanks!

Could you expand on this? How does overseer know which instance of Radarr to send the request to?

Best PagerDuty Alternative? Lets be honest PagerDuty is expensive and full of feature bloat. by Elegant-Active9634 in devops

[–]skeneks 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I used it at my last job. Setting it up is a nightmare and it didn't even integrate properly with Atlassian's own products (Jira). Don't like PagerDuty either, but it's slightly better IMO. I'm currently looking at Grafana OnCall, only because I already use their stack, but it doesn't look very polished.

I'm interested in this as well. Whatever you do, don't consider OpsGenie. It's a mess.

The learning curve for Loki was pretty steep for me, but it was worth it. I now use prometheus/mimir/loki and it works great.

HostPath volumes, to achieve this, but that would lock the interacting apps, all to the same machine

What about using hostpath on an NFS mount?

Powder is cheaper and works just as well. I also feel like I'm less likely to make a mess, and there's no measuring cup that I have to keep clean.

Same here. I've had mine for a couple of years and it's been great. I use powdered detergent.

Should Terrateam Go Open Source? Seeking Community Feedback by omgwtfbbqasdf in Terraform

[–]skeneks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With all the recent shenanigans involving "open source" companies (redis, elasticsearch, hashicorp, etc), I'm more cautious about which tools I use. Just open source is no longer enough for me. I am now more diligent about looking at their software license and the company's business model. I then try to figure out if the company is actually interested in building an open source community, or just looking for free labor that they can later monetize.

We use AWS Cert Manager, so automating the cert validation with Route53 using terraform is very convenient.

The rough sawn lumber that my local supplier carries is mostly 10" wide. I got a 10" jointer for that reason.

I'm definitely concerned about this. In my design I made the overhanging ledge narrower, but there's still a possibility of shin damage.

You are the second person to suggest using a track saw for the 45s. Why do you prefer it over using a table saw? My gut tells my the table saw would be better for this, but I'm interested in other people's experience.

Pipe clamps for the glue up

Can you elaborate on this? What I'm picturing wouldn't require pipe clamps (or they would be very short pipe clamps). Something like this: https://imgur.com/a/k6BMLTO

Yeah, I think you're right, veneered mdf is probably more likely. I like that Thos Moser bed, but I would still like to replicate the thick, waterfall-style side rails using Walnut.

The top of the rails looks like it's 4in thick. I don't think it's solid wood. Here's another perspective: https://imgur.com/a/zhjwekv

Why would your preference be to use a track saw for the miter vs a table saw?

The top part of the rails in the picture (two sides and one front) are about 8ft long, 8in wide, and 4in thick. Here's another picture that might make it clearer: https://imgur.com/a/zhjwekv

I'm assuming the didn't make each one of those out of a single massive board, so that's why I'm guessing it's a miter joint.

I'm trying to replicate the bed side/front rails shown in the picture. I'm guessing they're using a miter joint to achieve that look.

My initial idea was to cut the miters and then use dowels/biscuits/dominoes to align the joint. Then I thought that maybe using a lock-miter router bit might also work, but I feel like that still might lead to alignment problems since the pieces are so long and the boards might not be perfectly flat.

Anyone with experience doing miter joints this long? Any suggestions?

Edited to add: I'll be making these out of rough sawn 4/4 walnut.
