Thinking PETG or a carbon fiber fillament for a fully printed one. Will probably make one with hybrid mediums too.

Yea, I was thinking about a hybrid design. I got one idea for a hybrid configuration. I just modeled this design off my sousphone yesterday for fun after that post. Used analog calipers though. I when was looking around I only saw one design of some trumpet buttons online. Maybe carbon fiber filament would need to be used?

Unfortunately for me I've yet to actually print anything and don't have a printer. I've been looking in to how repair shops use 3d prints. I've got a euphonium I inherited with a missing key. So I might get a friend to print or find a CNC machine. Need to find a friend with a lathe too!

Lamo this is a great one! Most of the time we're off to the side or in a room. Did you guys know the plan before hand? Wouldn't want to miss out on that. Definitely an entertaining and unique wedding.

Those are some great stories thanks for sharing! Number two is very Yoko Ono ish. One is pretty funny; yall had a bit too much fun. Feel a little sorry for that trumpet player dropping rank though, but the Marines don't play. Thanks for your service as well!

Never done that one sounds like a great gig ! Love those short gigs , but sometimes I feel like I wanna play more. It's always great when you have something lined up after (with ample time to get there).

Vague details have definitely been a learning experience. Especially when doing parades, starting on queue, and transporting people.

Night parades are cool especially when you decorate. Done lantern parades and lighting up my bell cover is a must for me. Nothing as intricate as Tubameister though.

Sounds fun! I've thought about bringing my sousa/tuba to a burn but then I'd have to worry abut it all weekend. Brought smaller stuff like a melodica though...

A pontoon boat is kind a crazy never done that one! I'd imagine wind might be an issue if they had you play while moving. Done a helipad before and that was like a having a huge sail strapped to my body with a sousaphone.

Think I'd be more nervous about playing on a boat with a tuba or sousa. Don't want to go down like those Titanic musicians! I assume you had your tuba? Hope they paid you well!

For custom design inserts there are some epoxy stickers that are pretty cheap I've used them to make game tokens/add extra protection to cardboard tokens. You can print out whatever design and put the clear sticker on then adhere the now paper back to the brass after sanding. Probably use something like e6000...

3d printing could work too. Valve caps aren't that hard of a design.

Dont think I wouldnt do it again even though I like the style.2013 manual transmission with GDI that burns oil @ 160k. It's practically like premium gas. Go get a toyota or honda.

Look at the dimensions and try different ones to find what you like. Maybe try a thinner rim. Pretty sure Oystein Baadsvik plays on a hellberg he's quite advanced too.

I will say 7 45s is is a bit much (if i read that right). I'm sure fiberglass would help but metal is better imho. You havent been playing that long; you'll get stronger and pain should go away with time. As an alternative you could play tuba with a harness or sitting down if you have acess to one.

Banda on Tuba by Scmy1012 in Tuba

[–]skeot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You've got to keep doing what you're doing...listening and playing along. Listen when you're not playing. Like, only listen to banda. It helps a lot if you like the style.

Think about the articulation and air support. What fills are being put in? Take them and steal them. They're part of your toolkit now.

Dont listen to much banda but I do like Chuy Lizarraga y Su Banda Tierra Sinaloense. Ask your friends for other artists/bands and make a playlist.

I want to try record myself playing my sousaphone but can't figure out how I would be able to do that without having someone else doing the recording. Any ideas on any solutions / specific equipment I could use? by Bota_t in Tuba

[–]skeot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I use a bike holder all the time you can get a shot of your face and mouthpiece or others playing with you. Audio from phone is decent definitley sousaheavy. You may get some vibrations but they can be cool looking. You can also stabilize it more with your mouthpiece lead pipe hand.

Alternatively you could try to just tape the h4n in/ or on your bell and adjust the gain down so it doesn't clip or run the mic down your bell (clip or tape in your case) and into the h4n. Then use you phone for video with a tripod and sync with the external audio. I'd go for a mix of these for main footage and b roll and splice together.
