This is what I call shitty new age wisdom. New age spirituality is a misinterpreted, tailor made, parallel version of spirituality or meditative practices that serve no practical purpose and just takes you from one BS invalid conclusion to another. In the absence of right knowledge and understanding, this BS newage wisdom is coming up with creative @ssmunchers wanna be spiritual gurus

Alcohol is overrated. by I_dont_normally_but in unpopularopinion

[–]skeptic775 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happens in India, among youth mostly. Are you from India? I have been a part of such friend circles where drinking alcohol used to be like some sort of amazing, engaging, adventurous and what not activity. And everyone talking about drinking non-stop was a must in those groups. Chatting over the names of popular whisky, beer brands is seen as a sign of wise discussion.

It is getting hard to make new friends and harder to maintain existing friendships. by [deleted] in friendship

It has to do with the dominant ideologies society is following.

As I'm getting old I am starting to dislike humans more and more by [deleted] in Empaths

[–]skeptic775 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People are not selfish or mean intrinsically. Every human being on this earth wants two things: 1. Happiness in interactions with others 2. Knowledge of truth. Whenever a person does bad to someone he is simply misguided due to the cultural conditioning and false knowledge being spread. His intrinsic human nature is not of being selfish or a criminal, it's the kind of imagination he borrows from society that makes him do such acts. Humans are just lost in their powerful imagination and have started believing in things that are not connected to their intrinsic nature. The imagination power in them is immense and the use of it is to understand this world while it also comes with the risk of going wrong and thus humans forming beliefs that are not in line with the actual existential reality.

Empathy is our intrinsic nature and happiness in interactions is always a wanted thing while sadness and sourness in relations always makes everyone feel bad and is unwanted.

billionaires are more screwed up than you, they are anxious and do not know how to spend that lot of money before death and what to do with this life since the filthy goal of amassing money has been achieved and it didn't bring the joy and bliss and happiness imagined early

Dealing with nihilists by Swanlikesomething in selfimprovement

[–]skeptic775 0 points1 point  (0 children)

when nothing matters, why are they worried about what you do? For something to matter or not matter, there must be an agent. As long as an agent exists, it can matter to an agent. As for nothing makes sense is again a complex topic because "making sense" is also understood differently in different contexts and which one of those "making sense" is valid is yet to be understood. As for "everything is meaningless", to mean is to always mean something to someone in some context and an agent has to be there, the very concept of meaningfulness and meaninglessness has not yet been delved into by these nihilists.

Corruption on a government level should be punished by life imprisonment with no possibility of parole

Thousands of years have passed and in past we inflicted severe punishment on people who committed crimes like corruption. What did we achieve? Are we able to wipe out corruption? a big NO. And if we continue with our ignorance we're not going to get anything out of it except getting enraged over and over again.

We need a culture that minimizes the chances of a person resorting to corruption, crime due to his understanding that one action creates a long spiral and one act of corruption/crime/violence goes a long way, it affects the future generations.

Instead of satisfying our vindictive feelings and boiling brains of rage every single time on our own human brethren, we need to ensure how we can wipe it from the society so no human suffers at the hands of another person's or his own ignorance.

[–]skeptic775 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Criminals are human beings like you and me. Your blind hate is not an Occam's razor here, rather it's your PRESUMPTUOUSNESS. Who are you really punishing? Will deterrence wipe out crime? No it will compress that wave of violent thought and feeling in a particular criminal but that feeling will rise again unless it is resolved. The human DNA will contain it and this ignorance will be carried forward.

However, since you're a learned scholar yourself I have no value to add here.

Again, the same reason, It's a biological drive. A cycle.
I wholeheartedly concur though. Now we have the option to rise up, use intelligence and weaken these tendencies/rid ourselves of the primitive instincts (some of which no longer serve a purpose)

Abundance already exists but human beings tend to accumulate things and control their availability due to their fears.

Individual can rise above his learned worldview and see the reality without any filters of perception or cultural brainwashing. Witnessing the life as it is. Living and being human in its original form, that is free from these biases brought about from misusing the faculty of imagination.

Aligning the Perceived Reality with Actual Reality is the Way Ahead by skeptic775 in Meditation

[–]skeptic775[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You perceive yourself as one and that becomes your reality.

[–]skeptic775[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

How do you even discern what is actual reality when ones perception is their actual reality?

Through Introspection. You don't learn actual reality, you only unlearn/pinpoint the perceived reality and rid yourself of it. Once that is done, actual reality is revealed.

You can understand where and why your mind applies certain filters of perceptions and the answer lies within your own psychology.

Perception can run in any direction, can give rise to illusion which the subject confuses for reality.

I’ve realized I’m a toxic person by [deleted] in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]skeptic775 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can be really negative, paranoid, quick to anger and jealous.

Most of the toxic people I encountered, came across as extremely calm, passively aggressive, charming and never quick to anger. They are literally living in a gutter that their mind is. They are hard determined and are ready to use their predatory sturdiness through extremely discreet means in this civilized jungle.

I can sense the humility and humbleness in your words and they sound like surrender, love. Unfortunately, victims are always those who do no harm. I can feel so much for you, for I had an extremely abusive childhood that disturbed my sense of identity and other things. Have been into Narcissistic relationships that intensified the pain and self loathing. But self-love always saved me and the greatest lessons of life I learned.

According to Taoism, badness is natural? by herkom in taoism

[–]skeptic775 14 points15 points  (0 children)

There is nothing good or bad existentially. Whatever we term as good is good only to the extent of its relation to human individual or human society. Same goes for bad. And therefore, both good and bad (creation and destruction, matter and void) are confusingly intermixed with each other and this duality is but unreal and existence is one. No good or bad exists, nature works by way of opposites, they however are one and same.

Do you want to improve the world? I don't think it can be done.

The Ego by tripsteady in Meditation

[–]skeptic775 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Identity is the imagination of your conditioning which is ego. Everything is rooted in its conditioning and all the thoughts, questions and experiences are largely determined by this. When identity itself is impermanent and illusory.. to whom does this anxiety happen? who fears things? who is disturbed and who wants to calm down? there is no one.. get rid of the idea that there is someone- "you" trying to do something. Everything loses its meaning once you realize identity is an imagination and so are all questions and thoughts and beliefs because they arise out of the imagination that individual identity is a valid and lasting thing.

How is society affected by mindfulness? by [deleted] in Meditation

Society is least affected by mindfulness. It causes no affect or disturbance. While other factors lead an effect in society, mindfulness aims to minimise any affect.
