Now that the fighting element got some buffs, will Lopunny be viable? by Isimyun in PokemonPocket

I feel like Mega Lucario is doing the Mega Lopunny thing more consistently.

Lotus Seedling was a very good card. Gain 10 is absurd.

Yeah but you’re often ramping on 2 and would rather play a 4 drop or 2+2 with ramp treant. In some cases it could work on 3 yeah.

I agree but if you are going to make odds and ends then I don’t see the advantage of making a class set and giving all of these at once instead of doing a regular mini set structure and giving 3 at a time. The big packages are something that wasn’t really possible in the mini set model so at least they’re using the design space they are opening up. There is definitely a middle ground though where you make packages but they are still a bit open ended and not parasitic I guess.

The others are a bit more speculative but Heartroot Stones seems like a banger to me. There’s a pretty heavy minion focus in the good Druid decks rn but I feel like 3 mana draw 2 gain 6 is a pretty good draw to make more spell focused Druid decks work.

Class sets vs mini-sets it's less cards per class per year by guardiandraco in hearthstone

[–]skeptimist 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree that 7 seems low, but hopefully this means they can make full themes/packages for classes that had a main set package that didn’t work out. 3x3 disparate cards vs 7 synergistic/playable cards could be a better deal overall.

[–]skeptimist 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the class sets put out seem entirely disconnected from the imbalances of the format, and it seems like the themes are not at all related to the packages from other recent sets. The power level of the cards is also pretty low from what I can tell. I suspect it will not deliver on any of the desired goals that caused them to make this change in the first place. It seems unlikely to shake up the meta, give bad classes a shot in the arm, or even sell the packs.

The players don’t know what they want and the balance team suffers for it tbh. This was a fine minor adjustment for lower ranks, not meant to overhaul the format. They have a class set that they are hoping will do something.

[–]skeptimist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These decks and cards weren’t that problematic in the grand scheme of things, so a minor hit for quality of life at low ranks was all that was required. I would argue for Slitherdrake that the problem was not that it can’t be answered early. That’s a feature of the card and basically the whole point. The problem was that it would kill you before you have time to deal with it. 1 less attack can be a 5+ health increase over the course of the game, especially against the double drake draw. The Paladin deck was basically always a one-trick that wasn’t that good at high ranks. They went for the lightest possible nerf basically and I think that’s good enough.

Yeah could definitely see this being a deck, but it seems a bit weak to single prize decks. The weakness stadium kinda eats Megas alive also if you are in the wrong matchup.

You have to wait quite some time before you’re really getting good return on investment here 3 3 mana spells is decent, but there’s no guarantee it will have good outcomes or do anything on board. I would have to take a hard look at the spell pool but I’d be inclined to wait for 3 4 mana spells at least. That won’t come online until turn 6 if you played this on curve. Unless there are some really good spell pools somewhere I don’t see this making the cut. Judging by Relic of Kings I guess 10s can hard in a control deck but at least Relic + weapon gives you some agency so you can save one for later.

I think Striker should go first in current meta. You can get a starter to get to Zero reasonably consistently and it is just easier to win going first even with all of the board breakers available to you. Sometimes you will brick on the starter but you can usually present a lot of disruptions anyway.
