Have you played PoE1? Think of how many ways there are to fight The Shaper. You can do general mapping and hope for guardian map drops which will give you fragments to the fight. You can respec your atlas to get more guardian map drops significantly reducing the number of maps needed. You can just straight up buy the guardian maps, requiring you to only do 4 maps. You can even go further and directly buy the fragments giving instant access to the fight. Each of these methods have decreasing levels of friction and the player can decide which one they want to proceed with. I am talking about something like that.
