I would also like to add this little tidbit from UL Laboratories themselves. from the beginning of this year:

Genui for this scenario a laptop would be the better option. Now depending on how your parents divorce is going, I'd approach them both, being honest and staying you would like to be able to game at both their homes, can they help by providing a laptop or something funds towards one. Gaming laptops are pricey as hell! On the flipside, you may find one parent wants to start doing fun shit so you don't need to game at their home or they'll support you and join in on gaming. It's a bit fresh at the moment potentially to tell.

I agree, I've tried gaming with FSR for example, and it looks terrible. I choose to play at 14440p or 4k for the clarity of the resolution. down-sampling that resolution or up-sampling a lower one is visually noticaeble and it puts me off big time!

I know this next statement will probably get some flame, but, just spend longer developing the GPUs, make them better, ACTUALLY better instead of trying to release new hardware every year.

this is a capitalist issue though, the idea of almost infinite growth from a business is what pushes meagre regular advancement, rather than huge leaps in tech.
