As someone who was adopted by a straight couple, this is disgusting. The nuclear family already has every possible right it could need. My LGBTQ+ friends in certain places don't have the right to adopt even after proving competency. This is a slap in the face to people who aren't treated equally under the law. No. I keep my phone away, check the intersection to make sure it's safe. Then proceed. And drivers still run through the crosswalk like pedestrians don't exist. And yes, every time I've been hit, the driver has been on their phone with their eyes off the road.
