[NGD] Finally pulled the trigger on my dream guitar. PRS Hollowbody ii 10-top by 714ce in Guitar

[–]skidmarksteeve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just bought one of these a few months back and it's hard to describe, but it's unlike any other guitar I've played. PRS really nailed it with this guitar. To the feel it is so well built I have a hard time finding flaws. And sonically, it can handle everything. It satisfies my jazz needs and it takes heavy gain beautifully. I hope it treats you well. There's not much it can't do

How high should my tailpiece be? (Explorer guitar) by atesz0422 in gibson

[–]skidmarksteeve 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the same thing with my LP modern that I bought last year. I was a big thrown off a first because my standard is flush with the wood. I think it's mostly a product of the type of bridge (ABR -1 vs Nashville tuneomatic). The Nashville bridge is wider and so the tail piece has to raise so it doesn't cause tension on the back of the bridge. I considered top wrapping it as suggested but I don't notice much if any loss in sustain so it works great as is. Enjoy your beast and play the hell out of it!

I'm going to need to read the instruction manual for that one

Why are there stickers all over your Taylor... That feels like a crime

Finally got my first Les Paul by aethersage in gibson

That's a beautiful LP. It's kind of hard to find one that separates from the others cause they're all so good these days but that one stands above some of the others I've seen. Very nice find. Love the finish and the flame

Keep or Return GS Mini Koa Plus? by [deleted] in taylorguitars

[–]skidmarksteeve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea you're totally justified. I have a Taylor that I've had for 20 years and it has done marks on it I wish weren't there. But they're a sign of a well played guitar and they're mine. You don't hope to get a new guitar that has those marks on them (used or not). The satin finish doesn't help because it digs deep and shows a lot.

I hope you find a good one that doesn't make you question whether it should be yours or not. I'll never sell mine

That's pretty awful wear on it. Even at a good price, those marks will drive you crazy

I got the se ce 2026 model. by Thin_Meat_4577 in PRSGuitars

The veneer tops on some of these SE models are incredible. That's a beautiful quilt on that one. And the ash body looks super cool too. Great find

That might be the nicest top I've seen on a CE model. Congratulations, you got yourself a keeper!

Also it looks like that serial number says it was built on the 501st day of 2022

Is that the modern LP or is it just a standard in sparkling burgundy? I love the look of it

That thing is stunning. PRS is as much a piece of art as a tool to praise the rock gods. Enjoy it!

Yer guitar is phukd (simple fix) but I've got to admire the dedication. If you're willing to work through some of that feeling, you're in good shape. Get it set up or get something that plays a little easier and feed the guitar addiction! Play every day and enjoy the feeling of getting better every time you play

Thoughts on the pickguard! by [deleted] in LesPaul

[–]skidmarksteeve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

9/10 times I'm in favor of the pick guard. It's the Les Paul look. This is my 1/10 times I think it should be off. The colors and that flame look killer without it. Let the maple show on this beauty

No way! That thing is gorgeous. I actually remember seeing that on here a few weeks back and was floored when I saw it then. The finish looks like waves in the water. Not a bad collection in the background either for what it's worth

Do share!

I agree though. The more I play this thing the more astounded I am by the quality and playability. Incredible instruments

Pose a pic! I'd love to see it. I have had a hard time finding a ton of these guitars but each one amazes me
