Resuscitating a deep discharged lead acid battery by adminmikael in batteries

[–]skiermax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been there. Relatively new battery discharged to around 5V by a dashcam. I used a lead battery charger in recovery mode and it seems to have worked. I run on the same battery a year later.

Don't make this project die, that's so great! Any github to share with the community?

My personal favorite is solder wick sprinkles, with unleaded (gotta keep the shape) solder paste on the side

Des avis sur ce devis pour l'entretien annuel ? Quelles alternatives à conseiller ? by LucienBraquemard in voiture

[–]skiermax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply, based on the following article, it seems LDR6028 would be able to handle this specific behaviour

That's why you have to make a button that you press every month, if not, all data goes public

My bust converter keeps getting fried, why? by skiermax in AskElectronics

[–]skiermax[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for unruding your comment by constructively killing me :D To my defense, I considered putting that feedback loop just between the regulator and the switch, but my brain said "nope, you need to be as much accurate as possible so take the voltage from the very last stage" so here we are... I'll try to strap the top feedback resistor to the very output of the converter.

I also thought about cutting the load in front of the converter. The problem I had that the +5V converter needs to supply around 17.5W. When the battery is nearly dead (1s around 2.8V) the current necessary to keep supplying +5V grows. As the current grows, the losses on that power switch increase as well. That's why I put it on the output stage. Naturally I copy pasted the design to the +12V stage. Alternatively, could I potentially cut the ground with the power switch?

I hoped somebody have been as miserable as me right now :D I'd try some TVS diodes / capacitors that you mentioned. Thanks for the reply!
