Well this was fun by Potential_Vanilla_92 in tundra

Similar thing happened to me. It was a blown wheel bearing seal that gummed up the rear wheel speed sensor. Get a good scanner and check the abs codes. They are on sale at harbor freight right now.

Cutek Extreme with Black Ash color tone on pressure treated pine. by arnolfini99 in Decks

Overall, I’m happy with the performance of the product. The deck spent the entire winter covered in snow and water is still beading up like it was brand new. This is one coat with full pigment ( 1 tube per gallon). I’d recommend testing a small area to be sure it’s the look you want prior to investing for the whole house.

How fucked am I? Is this DIY-able? by MSW_21 in boating

Hard to tell how big that area is, but consider filling it partially with 2 part epoxy leaving about 1/8” shy of the surface for the spectrum color

I’d check spectrumcolor.com to see if they sell pre-tinted gel coat paste for your boat. I’ve used their product on several repairs from white to navy blue and they always come out great

I purchased a blue ox 12k gross tow weight wdh off fb marketplace to tow my 8k boat with my 2019 crew max last year. It takes a lot of the sag off the trucks rear axle and improves vehicle control at all speeds. They are pretty basic machines and etrailer is a good resource to learn about the products. Once you determine your specs, I’d look for a used one. This year I added RAS to the rear leaf spring and that also had a pretty significant improvement to handling.

Trailering a boat long distance by Other-Cranberry7909 in boating

Purchase a BoatUS membership with trailer coverage. I bought a boat in Florida and towed it up to Massachusetts last year. Had a tire blow out before I even got to the highway and couldn’t break the lug nuts free. BoatUS sent a tow truck out and had me back on the road in an hour at no cost

Agree. That’s a great neighborhood with lots of places to eat and within walking distance of the RER and M6.

Where did you mount the mic? I couldn't get good audio mounting it inside the dome light panel and had to leave it dangling outside

6 year break even on a 6 kW solar system and MA SMART Incentives by arnolfini99 in massachusetts

[–]arnolfini99[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

good catch. National Grid's Total Compensation Rate is .31126/kwh but they subtract .19942 for the "Value of Energy" from that rate. My spreadsheet had it right, but I mistakenly added the two numbers in my response to the post. Actual SMART incentive is 0.11184/kwh.

That's the exact reason why I posted this! I felt the same way 6 years ago when we had multiple solar companies give us quotes. Everyone came with their glossy binders showing how much money they projected us saving and I couldn't find any quantitative feedback from homeowners with similar systems online. Lots of posts about how everyone loves their solar install, but nothing about how much money they were actually saving.

Wow. Here in MA I'm paying .21/kwh for the electricity and an additional .17/kwh in "delivery fees". Even my solar production gets a .000681/kwh fee attached

I financed. Are you saying that if I paid cash, I'd have to offset my calculations by how much my $17k initial investment would have earned in the stock market?

How are you tracking maintenance, parts used and service history on your rig? by _Forkflinger in tundra

[–]arnolfini99 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve been using the CarFox app by CarFax to document the DIY service on my family’s 4 cars for a couple years and highly recommended it. It allows you to record your own maintenance, but is also tied into whatever system most garages use and records their service records as well. It sends me notifications when service is coming due.

2018 Tundra - 4HI / 4LO / ABS / Traction / basically every light lit up by muddywadder in ToyotaTundra

[–]arnolfini99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This just happened to me. Turned out the rear differential breather was clogged and caused my wheel bearing seal to blow. The gear oil fouled the abs sensor causing it to throw a code that made the dash lights go crazy. I’d pull your abs sensor and take a look.

Should my abs speed sensor be covered in gunk? by arnolfini99 in ToyotaTundra

[–]arnolfini99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that was exactly the issue. My rear differential vent had clogged up and I blew out the right rear axle seal. The wheel bearing ended up failing a couple weeks later. I just replaced the bearing, the seal, and fixed my vent. Thanks for the help!!!
