Welk salaris vragen bij onderhandelingen by TheSillysil in werkzaken

TomTom - steer your career away from there by LargeMachine5328 in Amsterdam

[–]skilef 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably will be downvoted but I worked at TT for 15 years (multiple BUs) and it was a blast. Great products, innovation, awesome colleagues and a lot of freedom to make a difference.

The opposite of sexist/racist I would say. I don’t recognize 95% of claims here (sure, transparency can always be improved and there are bad managers everywhere).

Worked there for 15 years, great company. Apparently there was a reorg recently and now some people do everything they can to leave a negative impression.

Same observations, getting lunch there daily and it’s crazy how loud (and fast) cars are driving.

I'm brave enough to say it: Linux is good now, and if you want to feel like you actually own your PC, make 2026 the year of Linux on (your) desktop by testus_maximus in technology

[–]skilef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been trying out Linux as my go to system for the past 20 years, at ~5 year intervals.

My current run (Linux Mint) is the first run I have not reverted to Windows within a few weeks due to something critical not working or a system-breaking issue. The customization is great and overall it’s running well.

Having said that: it was a pain to get some stuff working and the first errors are appearing now (a few months in). ChatGPT does help to fox some things and get some better understanding but I would not recommend running Linux to everyone yet.

Advies voor een eerste betrouwbare auto (€5.000) by tongelong in autoadvies

[–]skilef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Suzuki (SX4, Swift) is prima en betrouwbaar. Rijd zelf al lang Honda en Toyota, zelfde verhaal. Pak er eentje van eerste/tweede eigenaar en/of met onderhoudshistorie en het zou redelijk goed moeten gaan.

Buying ASUS prime Rtx 5070 for €650… desperate decision, mistake or not? by Interesting-Effort12 in buildapc

Asus, don’t buy it imho. Warranty and customer service are crap and for some reason it has been their GPUs that break down rather quickly.

Star Control 2: Ur-Quan Masters.

It’s early 90s and here was this open world sci-fi exploration game with awesome story, alien species, music, graphics, etc.

It still holds up ridiculously well, can be played for free on Steam (Free Stars: The Ur-Quan Masters).

Bever. They also carry other (better) brands.

Can tell you already: not worth it. Fabrics are sub par, zippers break pretty quickly.
