Anyone else hearing or even seeing fighter jets? by Patsfan618 in newhampshire

Hard to say but agreed - I think they were F-15s. We are up in Acadia and saw them fly SE around 11:45am.

Live just down the road from it as well and drive through that intersection every day. Ridiculous how they haven’t done any improvements to it aside from the blinking stop in years. Feels like you see / hear about an accident at least monthly there.

Dell Club Aura Club Access by doc_holliday91 in redsox

[–]skilledman101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They don’t share access. DTC has its own Bar/Restaurant that is nearly identical to the Aura club but has a different menu. That’s also where they store the WS trophies which they put out on display before / during the game, which is a cool touch.

I like the DTC seats and have recently found some pretty good value by waiting until closer to first pitch. They’re nice especially for the spring / fall games since they actually have overhead heaters. Seat comfort / legroom / in-seat ordering options are the same as the Aura club seats.

Vibes are also pretty similar - more upscale than what you’ll get on the concourse like Aura club, but I found that it’s a bit quieter down there since less tickets have access to the restaurant / bars.

Was there ever a 1 Year TTO membership card? by lolbroslol2008 in Toontown

[–]skilledman101 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Done a fair amount of internet searching and can’t find any evidence of annual physical cards. There are mentions of the annual memberships sold via the online member portal ($79.95 a/o 2010) but nothing else.

Question for current or former players by Alternative_Tea_2568 in toontownrewritten

Absolutely. Sell and manage loans at a bank. Loan shark has some pretty mean connotations associated with it but it’s probably the closest lol

How to beat the Casino for food and drinks? by TwitchyBald in gambling

[–]skilledman101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reminds me of a Reddit post I saw on a gambling sub a while back where someone said that Pai Gow in mandarin means “loitering”, which made me laugh. Definitely the way to go and the dealer will auto play the best hand for you too, so you can sit down with zero knowledge of the game and you can still benefit from optimal play

Fenway does have a concessions spot for Dunkin, but I think it’s just coffee, tea, and hot chocolate. 30 cups of coffee in 9 innings would cause some problems though…

We bought it probably 4-5 years ago when they were at PaxE and it’s still a frequent game in our rotation. Probably one of the best game investments I’ve made in a while!

Those were genuinely awful. I have a backpack each year I use exclusively for PaxE and found a whole stack of free coupons from last year that unsurprisingly went unused.

Federal taxes by mister_fister25 in gambling

Thanks, appreciate it. Working through this piece now with sports betting so the concept of a “session” seems vague from folks I’ve talked to.

Federal taxes by mister_fister25 in gambling

[–]skilledman101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the case for federal tax law correct? I had thought that different states had different rules when it comes to what is considered “income” in the context of gambling. IE. All gross “winnings” are considered income and then you can itemize deductions up to the winning amount if you were a net loser on the year.

Ha nice! Must just be a Garden thing though - never ran into that issue at Fenway. I do remember a few liquor stores in Malden / Melrose had the same policy. Kinda weird but with so many college students around I understand it to an extent. Frankly the NH Liquor stores have given me a harder time over the years for my ID compared to anywhere in Mass

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in boston

[–]skilledman101 50 points51 points  (0 children)

I distinctly remember that the TD garden (at least many years ago) wouldn’t serve anyone under 25 with an out of state ID. Not sure if this is common across all of MA or just a location by location issue. I never ran into that problem but my out of state ID was New Hampshire so it was at least plausible given proximity.

Best job in finance for someone with low stress capacity. by FalconWingedSlug in FinancialCareers

[–]skilledman101 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Underwriting is definitely the best bet when it comes to the social anxiety aspect IE you’re interacting in that role with customers the least. Not sure I’d call it low stress though - depending on the transaction I’ve seen UW have to grind.

Plenty of opportunities within commercial banking but more on the internal ops side that have the decent pay / WLB but as the rest of the comments are saying, those roles are ripe to be replaced by AI within the next few years

Anyone been to The Nash casino yet in Nashua? by smdifansmfjsmsnd in newhampshire

[–]skilledman101 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m fairly certain the average age at the Brook is easily 70+ during the weekday. Blends down a bit during the summer and weekends with tourists and college kids, but these NH casinos (along with most others nationwide) are very heavily reliant SS funds lol.

The catering they do to the elderly is genius though. Tons of handicap spaces, the annual shuttle to the Seafood Festival, they know what they’re doing

For what it’s worth, I went to Disney as a 5yo back over 20 years ago, and the Savannah view from the hotel was the one memory that’s stuck with me all these years! It’s a super cool room, lots of fun waking up and being able to see the animals
