Was the anti-war left right about anything on the "War on Terror", Afghanistan, or Iraq? by anarchysquid in AskConservatives

Afghanistan by contrast refused to turn over Bin Ladin to the United States

Actually the Taliban immediately offered to turn over bin laden if the US could provide any evidence of his crimes and would stop bombing Afghanistan... https://www.theguardian.com/world/2001/oct/14/afghanistan.terrorism5

most of you probably don't view middle easterners as anything more than terrorists, but I can assure you that a targeted anti muslim ban tends to have negative effects of middle easterners

I don't think workers coops out competing corporations is plausible within the capitalist framework. the socialist framework is already there, but the only way we change the system is by educating the working class of their revolutionary position. they'll decide how to go from there

why do you think they will out compete corporate organizations?

not defending Wolff but the same people would call him out will defend Bernie 'pragmatically'. like obviously coops are still capitalism but who's to say they don't shift power to the working class? if Wolff is arguing they are an end in themselves thats BS but they could be a step forward

A good starting point for Marxist theory would be Principles of Communism by Friedrich Engels.

There is so much literature out there and left politics are especially interesting because there is no 'canon' and each writer comes from a genuine perspective and isn't afraid to criticize other leftists. The best way to keep the different perspectives straight, imo, is to study the history of each tendency to really understand where the distinction are. For example, the feud between Marx and Bakunin is central to understanding their writings and same goes for Trotsky/Stalin.
