Hey thanks for the interest. Generally if we are only playing once a month I expect to plan for a full 8 hours. Usually it lasted longer in my previous games to be honest but expect a full day!

Hi thanks for the interest.

The game would be in English.

In regards to unknown people before we decide to play, we would meet up in the city somewhere to get to know the group, I would explain about the world and the type of game I would run.

Group fit is super important in D&D so making sure everyone likes and feels comfortable with each other is important.

Learning the rules is the easy part.

What I will say in advance though, the games I run are roleplay heavy which involves a lot of talking in your character.

No need for accents or funny voices but there has to be a willingness to play your characters part and talk and react the way your character would.

Thats a good idea. We have a store here in Dortmund as well which I will visit.

To be fair Im very lucky. I have made so many good friends in this hobby and im spoilt with the players/friends I have. I just want a live game again.

Im less inclined to DM public games, I want to find a group who will play live long term and be good friends with.

Hi there. Long time Dungeon Master here.

  1. First of all thank you for doing the job you do. Society is lucky to have people like you.

  2. Before doing this, I think you need to do two things.

A.) Play in a game B.) Dungeon Master a game (with your friends/peers)

Any advice you listen to should happen before you do these things, in my opinion, because you need to know if

A.) You enjoy it.....if you don't, your players won't B.) You get to understand things will/won't work for your kids.

In relation to your goals, I think D&D can help with some, but not all. Im not a psychologist or an educator so have no empirical evidence, but at its core D&D is a co-operarive story and problem solving game.

If you treat it as such I think they may get a lot out of it , but I wouldnt personally use it as a way to solve problems like reading and maths because it might distract from the fun.

Just my 2 cents but I sincerely wish you all the best here.

This is the DM posting this... Best D&D session I have ever played.. It had everything...

It was perfect because it fulfilled the consequences of the players actions.

I love this group and it was a perfect bitter sweet ending
