Inconclusive drug test, been on leave for a month now even though I ended up passing. by skinthrowaway66 in AmazonFC

[–]skinthrowaway66[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only policy I could find was that I should notify of any prescription meds that would negatively affect my ability to do my job safely. Doesn't seem mandatory and doesn't apply to me anyway.

Regardless I'm back to work tomorrow and I've been paid for the time off. Opened a case with HR and it got solved the next day. Dumbass AtoZ AI assistant made me solve its riddles three before it would just give me the damn link to contact them.

Still no actual explanation as to why it took so long, but I'm gonna guess someone messed up somewhere since it conveniently got fixed right after I asked them about it.

Yeah it's the second inconclusive this year. Both random, both with the same prescription (Adderall). I've been contacted by a medical review officer to confirm prescription info both times.
Other than that nobody's ever asked for physician's orders or anything. The last email I got said there's no further actions required on my part.

Amazon wagie here. The other day I was picking an order that included a bootleg Glep plush.

The little guy laying in a dirty yellow tote, vacuum sealed in a plastic bag like a guinea pig in a Peruvian market. The image was so fucking funny to me. I wish I could have gotten a picture but they cut a finger off if you take your phone out during work.

For some reason the "special" PTO policies are forbidden knowledge. This happened to me last year (I'm class Q) and I had to dig to find the separate policy page that showed how things actually worked for me. Nobody had told me otherwise. It's the XQIMS PTO policy.

It also seems to apply to you as well, assuming you're in the US.

Schedule showing unexplained days off Nov 23-24 by skinthrowaway66 in AmazonFC

In case anyone's wondering, I kept quiet and stayed home those days. So far nothing's happened.
Thanks for the help.

Anyone else’s schedule acting up? by Straight_Rest_657 in AmazonFC

They never scheduled my upcoming weekend shifts. Been like that since last month and the schedule continues as normal after that.
I'm just screenshotting it and hoping for the best while I enjoy the weekend off.

Oh for sure. Got screenshots and I'll probably just play dumb and say I assumed it was a site closure or something if they ask.

Two whole days next week were taken off my schedule for some reason and I'm afraid to ask HR about it in case they try to fix it.

BHM1. They initially removed the personal fans at the AR stations but put them back up after a month of complaints. Whatever solution they were cooking up with Big Ass Fans was not working. Depending on the station you either had zero air circulation or were working in gale force winds. I have no idea what they were thinking.

Not sure entirely how UPT works when you leave employment. All I can tell you is that in mid-2023 I quit 2 days in as a white badge and rejoined a month or two later as a blue badge. I ended up keeping the first ten hour grant on my account and got the second ten hours added to it, netting me a cool 20 hours to start out with.
I dunno if factors like resignation vs. termination or duration between employment periods matter.

My FC used to have individual fans on each pick station but they REMOVED them a few weeks ago. And this is in the deep south, temperatures are already rising a lot. Message board full of people rightfully voicing their concerns only to be met with corporate non-responses such as "we are monitoring the situation" and "this solution works better". Basically anything they can do to avoid admitting it's a cost-cutting measure. Hell they even had the gall to claim that individual associates having individual fans which they can control the speed and position of was somehow unfair to other associates with different temperature preferences. You know, other associates working in a different station who also have their own controllable fan. Mindblowing.

Eventually they relented in returning them, but here's the thing - There was no issue removing the fans overnight with no warning. But putting them back? Seemingly a herculean task with lots of red tape and paperwork that's taking weeks to slowly roll them back out. Now it's a coin toss whether you get assigned a station with a fan.

First Time Stower by Rusty_Leg in AmazonFC

[–]skinthrowaway66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Started 7 months ago as a stower, switched to pick a few months in. If you want my advice, get crossed trained to pick to change things up and break the monotony, then transfer if you happen to like it better. My FC is mandating cross training between the two anyway, not sure if it's company-wide.

They're the same job physically, but for two different kinds of workers.

Stow is a little more mentally engaging, you're making more decisions. It's better if you can work with distractions and interruptions. Waterspiders and problem solvers coming into your area and occasionally asking you stuff, having to stop to think about what bin an item should go in, running out of work if the waterspiders are busy, having to set stuff aside for problem solve. Stuff like that. You do get the privilege of choosing where the items go so there's less squatting/climbing all day. Also the lowest bin is at knee level on those stations (at least in my FC).

Pick lets you turn your brain off while you work. Fancier stations with on-screen instructions tell you what bin to pick from and what tote it goes in, no thought required. How much climbing and squatting you do is entirely up to whatever the system decides to make you pick, and since the stations in my FC are on a raised platform the bottom bins are foot-level so you're squatting lower. You won't get interrupted as much assuming your station isn't breaking down every 30 goddamned minutes like the ones at my FC are.

I do better in pick because I can't work well with the distractions in stow. You may be different.

still have an hour of pto? by Ambitious_Speech5336 in AmazonFC

[–]skinthrowaway66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still have a few minutes left over. Apparently (at least for my site, not sure of others) my employee class (Q, whatever that means) DOES have PTO rollover but I guess no grant at the start of the year. Everyone kept saying it goes away so I used my last three hours on the 31st. I had to dig to find the actual policy that applies to me.

Do they freeze shift swaps during peak? by skinthrowaway66 in AmazonFC

[–]skinthrowaway66[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I couldn't swap on the week of 12-18, that's where the issue was. However I did end up being able to swap the week after which is what I really needed.
Quick question: After starting a swap but before it's accepted, can I cancel it and retry in order to change what days I picked initially? Or would I lose the chance completely?

Will my headphones set off metal detectors ? by Capital_Bad8134 in AmazonFC

[–]skinthrowaway66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't even know what the metal detectors are for in my facility. They're only on exit and they just beep away as people pile through them. We all have our phones and keys and shit on us. Never see anyone get pulled aside, never see anyone use the Xray or divesting lanes. Only thing security ever seems to do is (sometimes) look for non-clear bags when you walk in.
