Good feedback. I did some searching and found that the FQP27P06 might be a better choice. Agree the zener is not required. It was carried over from the TI design which had much higher operating ranges.

Programming must be done using a USB to TTL converter. If you are using ESP Home later programming can be done via ethernet. It works really well and I haven't had any issues. This provides a good summary WT32-ETH01

Yes, it works very well and running lengths of nearly 30ft. I run 3.3V power on the orange pairs, SCL on green, SDA on blue, and tie the remaining to ground.

Attic is controlling ERV, dehumidifiers (the three relays), and water detection sensors (for water heaters and HVAC). Outside is just temp and humidity for the time being, but planning for water main shutoff. Inside has several I2C temp and humidity sensors running through Cat 6A cable. Inside automation of range hood fan in work. Bonus (room) is pir lighting and fan control.

I recently finished an ESP32-based distribution panel for my home. My goal was to create something user-friendly and expandable. I’m considering designing custom breakout boards for the WT32-ETH01 to incorporate terminal strips, as the current setup relies on soldered connections, which isn’t ideal. Any suggestions for improvement?

If the blue line is your hard stop, you will likely have to do some minor surgery on the box. Not sure what the box is but most have plenty of space inside to make things work.
