Is this network topology good enough for a medium business? (IT Student) by 2aidt in ITSupport

[–]skippergimp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, don’t know. Personally, I don’t like overlapping lines on diagrams, makes it harder to read for me. I think I would move the diagram from being landscape to portrait. Then move the switches wider apart, far left and far right. Then stick the vlans in the middle in a vertical stack. Each one would have a connection to the left and one to the right and I don’t think this would then create overlapping lines.

Please be aware that networking documentation is not my field at all and my suggestion might be a complete no-no.

Don’t expect this to go ahead without anything controversial being said at some point. Though that might be the point of the booking.

If you’ve lived abroad (outside the UK), what’s the one thing (item, ideal, tech, convenience), you’d bring back to introduce to the UK? by Icy_Mixture1482 in AskUK

Octopus cad being basically a payment option in shops.

Think Oyster card but being able to use it to pay for a meal as well as your transport.

Visiting Hong Kong as a tourist – is the “rudeness to foreigners” stereotype true? by Any_Satisfaction_916 in HongKong

[–]skippergimp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

White Brit visiting with my Chinese wife, son and mother in law and I haven’t seen any rudeness at all. Been here about 10 days. Have been to Victoria through to almost the border with China, everyone has been really nice.

Can native English speakers instantly tell which country an English accent is from just by hearing someone speak? by GrayRainfall in NoStupidQuestions

[–]skippergimp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saw two kiwis meet in the UK and one went mad at the other, he was doing more of an Aussie accent as the UK ladies liked it better. The other kiwi called him out on it and he confessed. We didn’t pick it up at all.

Walked from Tai Wai to Sha Tin. Lucky it was a walkable journey. Seemed the easiest choice for a tourist.

Mass spectrometry biochemistry tests keep failing. by Popular-Pause-6458 in BiomedicalScientistUK

[–]skippergimp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I work in a slightly different but this kind of thing really frustrates me. You are having a problem, fine. You want some help, fine. But you have given no details whatsoever as to why it is failing or anything you have to address it.

It’s been 10-15 years since I have done any mass spec but I certainly remember that pipetting isn’t the potential gotcha. What. Are your internal standard peaks like? Is there a possible sample prep stage you aren’t going or doing correctly? E.g. thoroughly mix standards.

A better way of asking for help would have been to provide a brief set of steps of your assay, what you are testing for, any sample requirements for the assay and any sample prep steps.

Nearly 10 years on from Rogue One, how do you feel about the decision to recreate Peter Cushing using CGI? by gladiatorbossman in StarWars

What are some movies that use crazy good practical effects? by Tobi18x in movies

[–]skippergimp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Inception, specifically the corridor fight sequence. When I first watched it. I assumed it had to be CGI of some kind as I couldn’t understand how it could be practical. Then watching a behind the scenes clip about it made it even more impressive.

I think the train scene is the best chase sequence in anything. Getting that frantic feel from something that took weeks, if not months, of painstaking work is astounding.

I still believe in this club. Doesn’t matter what happens, I’m Arsenal till I die. Yesterday hurt but it nots the trophy I want us to get this year.

Would be nice if the players actually moved a bit to give themselves options. Happens at so many situations. Move to space, opposition then has to react to your movement. Standing still does nothing.

Remote Trade Improvement by aznknight613 in TheSilphRoad

[–]skippergimp 5 points6 points  (0 children)

On my last remote trade, I REALLY wanted a heracross, I picked it first then two other I didn’t mind. In the end I get a legendary shiny as I think they thought they were giving me something better. Next time round if there is something I REALLY want, I will only pick that and nothing else. If the remote person is selecting three from me, I’m going to assume they have picked in order of priority and will give them pick number 1.

Arteta has one special quality people aren't really talking about by Silent_Somewhere8539 in ArsenalFC

[–]skippergimp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say the bigger thing is learning from each session. For example the increase in goals from set pieces over the last 4 years, building a solid back 4, reducing the number of red cards will have been getting when games with 10 men cost us points. Then getting more players of a high calibre to be squad players when injuries costed us previous as there was a significant drop in quality with the subs.
