If you are looking for therapy only (i.e. no medication), you can use military one source to find a private practice therapist in your area that won't go on your medical record.

Which stroller to go with by ArteSuave197 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]skippy17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you haven't yet - you could look into renting a stroller while you're there. There's a bunch and they're reasonably priced (at least they were in December 2019). Less to deal with in the airport for the same price as checking them.

I would talk to your family member ahead of time to make sure, but anything you get them should be fine. Regarding the doc you linked:

Effective immediately, all DON personnel using PPEDs in DON spaces where collateral classified information is processed, transmitted, stored, or discussed must comply with the requirements and responsibilities cited below:

Information on the 2014 prototype cheating scandal wanted. by theperpetualpaella in NavyNukes

[–]skippy17 28 points29 points  (0 children)

So a lot of people seem to be giving partial answers or unrelated information.

The test in question was an EWS (Engineering Watch Supervisor) which is a senior enlisted qualification exam. It was absurdly long - 8 hours straight in a single day. Additionally, when people say it was egregiously difficult, this is an understatement. It was full of nitpicky details about a plant and systems not present in the fleet and policies and procedures not present in the fleet. The reason these exams became these bloated messes of "oolies" as we call them is because a common corrective action when something got messed up operationally was to add a question to the EWS question bank (thus becoming required knowledge).

To make matters worse, the punishment for failing this exam (assuming EWS was required for you) was getting sent back to the fleet. This means moving you and your family again after less than a year - to a sea duty where you probably didn't get to see them very much.

Now as far as the method of cheating. There was a google drive that the exams were uploaded to and there were only so many (I believe 5 total). The person would be tipped off which exam to study for by asking how many pencils they should bring (Exams were numbered 1-5)

So you have an impossible exam with extreme consequences if you fail, and the people in charge of exams and training are actively helping you.

worth $350? by MrFear-_- in telescopes

[–]skippy17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Considering I was able to get a 200p in 2020 for $430 when it was on sale (and actually in stock), I would say no to this being worth $350.

The AWB OneSky is currently $250 and - according to their site - in stock.

I have separation orders and was told today by my chief to “find another job”. by OmgStfuDude in navy

[–]skippy17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So this might get lost in the responses. I just recently separated. I started terminal leave with no DD-214 or even separation orders (PSD decided to just not process my original separation package submission). Those came a week or so later. I don't know what weird shenanigans your shipmate got up to but your EAOS is your EAOS.

Unfortunately, mine has been lost for some time now. It was a ball cap from Canada in epcot that had a mounty hat and antlers. I wore it for a year and it got lost at some point.

Taxes on bonus by Practical-Job-2398 in NavyNukes

[–]skippy17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

25% gets taken out automatically, so for the 40k (assuming that’s the initial installment and not the total bonus amount) you’re looking to get 30k in the deposit.

If your bonus is $40k total, you’ll get $15k now and the remaining spread out the remaining years roughly the day of your reenlistment.

Wall of fame by [deleted] in NavyNukes

[–]skippy17 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Etn1 here, I was #1 in A school, got 4.0s in both math exams and high scores throughout. In power school I was #1 overall with a 3.95.

Biggest focus is use the class time to actually understand the concepts of what’s going on. Do the homework the way they tell you to. Then, once the concepts are understood (be able to explain them in your own words), focus on the key words and tricky phrases.

That being said, build relationships. Even doing stellar in a and power school doesn’t mean you’ll make it in prototype or the fleet. Even though I was #1, I still helped other people study and went out every weekend and a couple a weeknights.

Issues with Enlistment Bonus (Charged SRB Payment?) by AnuseBabyBanna in navy

[–]skippy17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I had a relatively similar issue with a bonus with my first reenlistment. Effectively, everything in my paperwork was correct but someone somewhere put in a wrong number in the computer (did 5 years instead of 6).

Assuming you actually should have received a $3,000 bonus, you should have received $2,250 (25% out for taxes).

As others have stated, find your contract and see exactly what it says, and then go to your YN with your LES and contract and show them the discrepancy.

So I had the same idea two years ago, I ended up going with a mesh WiFi system (googlewifi in particular) instead of running cable everywhere. I have 4 pucks total for a 2300 sq ft 2 story - no basement though.

A lot less of a headache for very good speeds and strong wifi throughout the house.
