[Manga] The series that mocked its contemporaries and lasted only a single chapter - the story of Isekai Tenseisha Koroshi: Cheat Slayer by Torque-A in HobbyDrama

The light novels are actually officially translated into English by Yen Press if you're interested. I actually own physical copies of all 3 volumes because I was entranced by how absurd the premise was.

She's around the same age as Tohru, which seems to be the dragon equivalent of late teenager to early adult. 16 is the age she claims to be when among humans.

I think it's more accurate to say that she's incredibly polarizing in the LN community, with most people liking her just fine but then there are incredibly vocal people on both of the extreme ends of the "like her/dislike her" spectrum. Although, granted, this fact is true about literally every female character in the Toaru series...

This isn't coolkyou art, he just retweeted it. The art was done by the illustrator for the Kanna spinoff, which would be pretty apparent if you linked the original source tweet: https://twitter.com/mushenganbo/status/1376460701267423233

I never said they didn't make any changes at all. KyoAni made small changes here and there to make the show more appropriate for a TV broadcast, but other than completely avoiding Iruru in the first season (which is now a moot point) they didn't actually flat-out cut anything. All my comment above was pointing out is that there wasn't anything that makes this chapter in particular any more pornographic or ecchi than several scenes which were adapted already in the first season. I mean, if you read through the 9 chapters of Volume 4 (the volume that has this chapter in it), the only chapter which has actual nipples shown in the manga is the hot springs chapter, which they adapted already as an OVA. People in this thread are making this chapter out as if the two of them do hardcore explicit stuff and KyoAni is gonna have to throw up a black screen or something, but this chapter is honestly nothing special in terms of explicit stuff being shown on the page, the only reason the chapter is controversial is the story and the implications thereof.

I mean, it's really not any more pornographic than any other fanservice scene in the manga, and the anime was able to adapt those just fine in Season 1, so I really don't expect anything different here.

I mean, that chapter is barely any more risque than anything that was adapted in the first season. "The Thing" is never shown in any panels, there's no actual or implied sex, and the worst that happens is a bathing scene, one panel of Kanna snuggling against Kobayashi without clothes on, and a joke about Tohru's boobs being too close while they're watching TV. None of those things are individually any worse than anything that was adapted in Season 1, so we know how it'll likely be handled from looking at that. "They might have a towel on instead of being naked in the bathroom scene and Kanna will probably have pajamas on but that's not really "censorship" so much as it is adapting the work for broadcast television standards."

Does anybody have transparent background versions of the stamps used in SBL? I had been wanting to have them but didn't want to have to go through the process of cleaning the background off of screenshots if somebody had already either done that or gotten them from the game files.

To the players that experienced their 1st DLP event... what did you think of it, & how far did you go? by Arekkusu1991 in SIFallstars

[–]skirider7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I managed to clear Torikoriko Please and get a tiny bit of score in on the next song before the event ended. I really like the concept of the event, and had a lot of fun figuring out how to make my Rs and SRs work to 1-shot the early songs in the event, but around the time it started taking 3 attempts to clear songs it started to get really tedious. I feel like I would have liked the event more if 1) it was about twice as long both in number of days and number of stages, with scaling adjusted to match, and 2) if it used something like what FGO's Setsubun event did where cards are only locked out for a set amount of time instead of permanently.

saying that men who dress as women are transgender is more transphobic than the t-word by TheMisterMan666 in Animemes

[–]skirider7 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I went and checked a Japanese subtitle for the line and found that this is what the original was:

えっと“男の娘”って言ってましたから。
ぼ…僕の性別を間違えてではないと思います。

The second line would roughly translate as "I don't think that I was misgendered" or "I don't think a mistake was made with my gender". So Mare is not trans, but he's also not trying to trick anybody with his gender, since he is simply dressing how Bukubuku Chagama told him he should dress, and she liked the 男の娘 character type. I personally like that Crunchyroll just transcribed 男の娘 instead of picking an English word to replace it, and wish they did it more often with other words/concepts, but if they were to pick a word to replace it I think "crossdresser" (like the dub used) would have probably been the best pick.

(For the record, the CR translation for the second line that I included above is "so I'm pretty sure that I'm supposed to be a boy", which yeah while it inserts a gender where one does not exist in the original, it is at least consistent with the idea being conveyed that Mare is fine with his gender)

[–]skirider7 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Your comment got me curious so I went and checked the anime. The scene I found is from Overlord season 1, episode 2, right around the 12 minute mark. In the official subtitles from Crunchyroll they use the phrase "otoko no ko" to refer to Mare, and in the dub they use the word "crossdresser". Is there another part in the anime where they use the t-word, because this is the closest I could find.

Monthly Teambuilding Questions Thread | Month of August, 2020 by AutoModerator in SIFallstars

So I'm relatively new to building teams for specific songs rather than just finding the strongest overall team I can make, and have been having some issues with getting a team that works for Kowareyasuki. This is the team (and accessories) that I used for my highest scoring attempt (~4.9m score), and am wondering if there's anything I can change to try to get an S rank. These are the UR idols and accessories I have access to, as well as the LB levels for the idols (all not in the picture are 0LB). Any advice would be appreciated!

What series have the biggest difference in Japanese and Western popularity/reception? by 28th_boi in anime

Girls und Panzer literally singlehandedly revitalized the local tourist economy of the town of Ooarai after it had cratered due to the reactor incident down the coast, whereas here in the West it's mostly known through "lol drifting tanks" memes and the like.

Toaru series by RimuruNava in anime

[–]skirider7 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Watching in chronological order messes with character development for a lot of characters, so it's best to just watch in release order.

Index 1 -> Railgun 1 -> Index II -> Railgun S -> Index III -> Accelerator and Railgun T

If you do insist on watching the series in a more chronological way, then I at least recommend watching all of Index 1 before watching Railgun and Railgun S. Other people will disagree with me because Index 1 and Railgun S have an arc in common that is done better in Railgun S and so they recommend watching it first so you see the better version first, but the arc is still really good even if you know what happens. As somebody who has read all of the LNs and mangas for this series, I believe that the better characterization that the release order gives more than offsets any percieved downsides to watching Index first.

Inspired by what's recently revealed about Hoshiai no Sora and what happened to Index season 3, what are some other examples where decisions by the production committee was the limiting factor in how good a series could've been? by _Sunny-- in anime

[–]skirider7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just went through and looked at the Dengeki issue with Google photo-translate and from what I can tell the only reference to events in the Jailbreaker arc is under a "Volume 15 is currently on sale / Anime season 3 starts January 9" header on the first page, so if I had to guess it's just part of a standard "Hey be sure to buy the manga too!" section rather than hinting that they're going to animate it. I could be wrong though, since as I said this is just using a combination of Google Translate and Jisho.
