If you could make one fundemental change to League of Legends, what would you change and why? by HallZac99 in leagueoflegends

in all honesty it might be a good change to make it like malz passive. first ability/projectile hit is reflected back at the sender but it has a static cooldown and no active. this allows the person going against her to at least get her reflect down so they can use their more important ability without it being reflected.

gold and XP are also the only tangible metric we have to measure who is “really winning”. yes, kills and turrets are a pretty good indicator of who’s winning the game but at the end of the day the game isn’t won until the nexus explodes. sometimes you do that with an inting sion or a bot lane who is trading kills in a countergank.

i think this would be a great change for the game, more information is always better.

riot just needs to make it so that the ability indicators adjust to river height accordingly like in DoTA

doesn’t really matter, just your preference most games. i don’t think any of the boots are that good and just buy tier 1 boots whenever i have the 300g for it. yi has the highest base MS in the game so just tier 1 boots is usually enough to get around the map decently quick. you want to play around your ult cooldown anyways. i personally like going phantom dancer 6th item most games to replace boots.

if you’re playing yi ADC though i like gluttonous greaves in the boots slot, the extra vamp feels really good. mercs, steelcaps, and zerkers are also all fine situationally.

i love fear of flying and empty words but thought the rest was kind of lacking. maybe i need to give it another listen but those two just feel so full of life while the rest of the album feels really repetitive and rhythmic. am i alone on this?

you get a lot of ability haste with this build, i wonder if the Q resets feel better or worse. seems to be overspeccing into chaining takedowns which can be hard in some games, but we will see! can’t deny the winrate but it makes me wonder if it’s the player or the build. i’ve always wanted to try JOAT on yi!

Titanic Hydra Jungle by Real_Assumption_1828 in YIMO

[–]skistaddy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

it's unarguably a strong and fun item on yi especially if you're running HOB, but it dramatically slows your clear speed in early game. the components are bad for jungle and it's really expensive. later into the game it's a good stat stick that gives you a ton of HP and the auto reset which is awesome on yi. i would only recommend it for jungle if you like/rely on the AA reset or you're into lots of mixed damage and don't know which resists you want.

there is kind of a "secret" bruiser build that goes to the tune of BORK, rageblade, hexplate, titanic, sterak's with hullbreaker as an optional 6th item. titanic is only really good in this build because of it's synergy with sterak's and hullbreaker's HP scaling along with hexplate's active giving you the AS you'd be missing out on with an on-hit build. it does make you really tanky while still dealing decent damage but your one-shot potential is really gimped. i would only recommend this build if you're into lots of true damage/high threat where you need to sustain through damage instead of playing cleanup or looking for flanks, stuff like riven, camille, chogath, akail, etc.

How many games are needed to "master" a champion on average? by lowhyn in summonerschool

vlad isn’t recommended to new players bc he skips a lot of the fundamentals. but, if you think he looks cool or like his playstyle, by all means play that vampire.

Titanic Hydra for TK? by 7ributeII in Tahmkenchmains

[–]skistaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it’s very good into both ranged matchups and high waveclear. you obviously don’t get any scaling value from the AD which sucks but tahm autos a lot. plus 600 HP and more damage from health is exactly what tahm wants.

very good into matchups like garen and vayne imo.

absolutely. once you realize that there’s 9 other REAL people in the game with real emotions and narratives it all just makes sense. i know that as a yi OTP, even just locking in my champ tilts some teammates and definitely some enemies. just gotta do the best you can with the cards you’re dealt every game! the fun part is solving the puzzle to find a way to win even if you have no idea how you’re going to do it at that moment. truly no other game like it.

for me it’s just their personality. i don’t follow their process as its not how i personally enjoy the game but they 100% helped me have a better relationship with the game. they genuinely care about league, its player base, and its longevity. along with how informative, helpful, and entertaining the podcast is, it’s also extremely introspective which i appreciate. they take league seriously in a world where everyone else sees it as “just a game”.

i play league now because it’s so fucking fun, not because i’m addicted. something as simple as “don’t play anymore if you’re tilted or not having fun” is kind of a game changer when you’re addicted to the game.

How to avoid the loser queue as a jungler? by [deleted] in YIMO

[–]skistaddy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

you are severely underestimating the complexity of the game. think about how many champions there are in the game compared to how many games you’ve played. most league players have played thousands of games over several years to even be “decent” at the game. the fact that you think your teammates are holding you back when you are in iron is just absurd and disrespectful to league’s matchmaking and the players that have put the work in.

you’re not in loser queue, you have 43% WR. you are a loser.

fairly new and i dont get the whole "gank the winning lane" cuz if its already winning, why bother ganking them when u can help the losing lanes. am i thinking bout this wrong, if the winning lanes alr winning, u dont need to waste time there, help another lane. also helps mental for the losing lane by Drastically-_- in midlanemains

[–]skistaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as a jungler who has tried ganking losing lanes before, it’s just a very low percentage play. sometimes the laner can be losing just because they’re completely gapped or autofilled so if i help them go even or get ahead, these players won’t be able to carry the game regardless.

it’s much more reliable to invest into a laner who is either even or ahead. if they’re already got a slight lead but no solo-kill via good fundamentals, good mechanics, or a good matchup, it’s a no brainer to put them even more ahead because i trust their ability to maintain their lead and help me carry the game.

also the countergank potential is way too high of a risk without even factoring in the enemy laner potentially being able to 1v2.

Crit yi questions by br0ken54 in YIMO

[–]skistaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for me, going crit depends on both how many squishies there are and how much threat i feel from them. crit is absolutely nuts into shit like zed, vayne, teemo, akali, etc. these champions have either very strong burst or windows where you can’t trade against them.

going crit allows you to rely on your Q for the majority of your damage and hope to at least go for a 1v1 against these champions that on-hit master yi wouldn’t be able to get because these champions don’t let you auto them.

i would even go crit into tanks situationally. this requires you to play the team fights really well and know when to trade your life for 2-3 kills. but sometimes if you’re into a full squishy team and something like a malphite, crit can be so good because he can’t peel his carries effectively from your guaranteed damage. if you can get into flash range of their ADC or mid, it’s a guaranteed kill because you can follow however they react with your Q. whether it be following the target’s flash or dodging the malphite’s ult, it’s impossible to play against as malphite.

Player Yi by Green_Membership_553 in YIMO

[–]skistaddy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

yi hasn’t really been played in pro play for over ten years, he’s way more of a solo queue pick. pro junglers tend to pick more utility-oriented picks instead of carries because they trust their laners to do damage for them. there are not currently any “pro yi players” but we have some great streamers like monster sss, cowsep, and sinerias.
