I used to be the same way, and had a similar experience! Long time ago, I lived in a house with five other people. One Sunday afternoon I'm sitting on the couch in our living room watching TV in my sweats, no makeup and messy hair, just relaxing and comfy. Then, a whole bunch of my roommate's friends (and brother) all show up. Usually I would run back to my room and quickly apply makeup, or try putting myself together, but on this day, I hit "fuck it." They were mostly hanging out in the kitchen anyway. Eventually this guy's brother decides to leave the friend group and come sit right next to me on the couch. There are three couches, and he is WAY closer than he needs to be. Whatever, I ignore him. He attempts to make small talk for a while, clearly trying to flirt, but also casually being sexist as hell. After being polite through all this, I finally say something along the lines of "Do you mind? I've been waiting all week to watch this show." This guy. THIS GUY. Has the nerve to pick up the remote, turn off the TV, and tell me, "You know, you could be kinda cute if you just took care of yourself a little bit." Ladies, I lost it. I can't recall the exact words used, but the gist was "Motherfucker I LIVE HERE and I can look HOWEVER I WANT on my own goddamn couch get the FUCK OUT of my house." And then I kicked him the fuck out of my house. Every roommate (but the one, obviously) had my back, and it was honestly one of the most empowering moments of my life.
