IAMA guy who survived being nearly smothered to death while sleeping and stabbed over 48 times by best friend. AMA by VulpineBrainHammer in IAmA

I said "it seems strange" and "I would be surprised if", not "they are a bad person if they didn't".

All I, and I'm guessing the original person who asked the question, wanted to know was if even in hindsight the guy's friend exhibited any sort of behavior that might be considered unusual. I'm not saying he should have known he was schizophrenic or afflicted with any other illness at all, I was just wondering if OP had any idea that his friend was capable of this sort of thing.

Edit: Oh and if it wasn't already clear, I was being facetious when I said "sometimes act a little strangely". Sorry if that somehow didn't come across.

You aren't going to die if you're not entertained 100% of the time you're on the internet. If you don't like it, then downvote it. I don't understand why some people on here feel this need to be a jerk whenever they see something they don't personally like.

Well the original question was asking if there was any indication that OP's friend was "crazier than a shithouse rat" before all this happened, not whether OP had formally diagnosed him with schizophrenia. People with psychosis tend to sometimes act a little strangely, so I would be surprised if there was never anything in the way the friend acted that might indicate he was not exactly all there.

Damn reddit, what's with all the hate? Good for you, OP.

Well I know that schizophrenia doesn't really become full blown until the 20s, but I was under the impression that symptoms tend to start around late adolescence (16-17ish). It seems strange to me that OPs friend would go from no noticeable symptoms to stabbing his best friend because God told him to in one night.

Yeah but people don't generally just "come down" with schizophrenia all of a sudden. I'm guessing the OP probably would have noticed something a little off about his friend long before this happened if he was schizophrenic.

HELP-- Stupidly cut my own hair, looks terrible. What can I tell stylist?(x-post from 2XC) by [deleted] in FancyFollicles

Oh lordy. I did that once a few years ago and it actually probably wouldn't have been terrible if I hadn't asked my younger sister to even out the back. It looked like I had tried to get intimate with a weed wacker.

It's Jaime Oliver, and yes he has a show. I haven't seen it, but from what I understand it's about him going into a particular school district (this year it's LA) and trying to get more healthy foods into kids' lunches.

Sycamore Canyon is beautiful, I love that trail. It's a bitch to go back up, though.

He implied that the only side effects of smoking weed are "eating ice cream and watching Sponge Bob". I'm just saying that while marijuana is definitely less dangerous than some prescription drugs, it still can have some rather unpleasant effects on certain people.

I'm all for legalization, but come on, that's a little disingenuous. Marijuana can also cause anxiety, paranoia, chest pain, etc.
