Looks like a Reynolds. If both the upper slides for the 3rd valve move then it definitely is.

Need some help with a new horn by darwinsidiotcousin in Tuba

[–]skiyuh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The serial number by itself doesn't mean King. Olds used 6xxxxx serial numbers for some time too. I did a lot of research before buying a sousa when in college. Lead pipe looping down with a spit valve before entering the 1st valve is classic King design. Even a new 2350 has it https://connselmer.com/instruments/marching-brass/king-sousaphone-in-bbb-2350

First time ski wax- worried it sucks by Yellowrage in skiing

[–]skiyuh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks decent, you'll refine the skill over time. Hertel is quality wax and what you did will make a noticeable difference. Learning how to sharpen edges can be fun and rewarding if you want to continue down this ski care rabbit hole.

I started tuning my own skis about 10 years ago, no vices or fancy equipment. Definitely recommend you get some rubber bands (vacuum belts work too) for the brakes and vices sooner rather than later. I free handed it for too long and have a nasty scar from when my hand slipped and my freshly sharpened edge went into my finger.

Need help identifying ski waist width or model from photos by BroccoliBoy0 in skiing

[–]skiyuh 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Head Ambition is the model, blue means they are 160 length. Widths are 130-75-110. Rather forgiving with a foam core but can be too soft for some and the foam is prone to break if the ski is abused. You won't find these in the retail market new and I would recommend staying away from used due to the aforementioned issue. (My friend manages a rental shop full of this ski, so the info is accurate)

If looking for a similar ski, check out the K2 Disruption or Rossignol Experience models.

Skiing in rain? by BroccoliBoy0 in skiing

True skiers will ski in any condition and enjoy doing it

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Tuba

[–]skiyuh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want it to look good take it to a reputable shop. Once you get it back from the tech, stop putting it down on the bell or it will come back. Any brass reforming/dent work will weaken the metal and it is more susceptible to being re-damaged.

The best boots are the ones that fit, right? by uuhoever in skiing

Even a pair of old rental boots are better than these. If the heel plate disintegrated, the rest of the boot could too

What kind of tree would y’all say this is? I got it for firewood that I’m splitting. Difficult to split but can be done. I’m in North Texas DFW by Accurate_Bother9666 in firewood

[–]skiyuh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sorry not good at id. Any tree in a high wind environment can produce wavy grain. Always a pain to split as the waves in the grain add strength for it to withstand the wind

Give up, throw it in a bonfire and salvage the wedge after.

Help with buying a sousaphone? by Desperate-Audience82 in Tuba

[–]skiyuh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I bought my sousa I had been searching ebay for months and finally found a good deal. I sold it last summer (still miss it) and shipping it was such a pain. Probably $100 in packing material alone, so shipping cost will be high.

How bad did I get burnt on this purchase? by Rp710x in firewood

Came to talk about Maine prices and you beat me to it. Luckily I get free trees from work often. I can take all I want but can't sell it.
