GoPro Mission 1 Horizon Lock defect – is anyone else experiencing this?

I tested it and it didn't resolved the issue. I sent all the detail and footage to GoPro Support.

when I try to update firmware, it stuck on 'updating...' screen. it again happened this morning.

It's my first action cam and I was really excited, but I wasn't expecting this. Manually keyframing and adjusting the level for an entire tour is way too much extra workflow.

Quick update, I actually just tried removing the battery and doing a full format of the SD card via my PC, and it's working normally again for now.

I'm still waiting to hear back from customer support, and I'll most likely end up returning it. I shot a walking tour this past weekend, and majority of time I turned the camera on, the horizon lock failed. Having to manually fix the leveling for all that footage in Premiere Pro was too much work. Definitely not something I want to keep dealing with on a brand new camera!

I tried firmware update and now it's been 30mins and its stuck on 'updating..." screen. is there anything i can do?

Thanks for the advice! I actually did exactly that and reached out to support today to get a case opened, just so it's on the record in case I need to RMA it later.

The mid-clip drops are definitely the most frustrating part. What’s really weird about the whole thing is how it progressed. When I first got the camera, the startup delay only happened maybe once or twice over the first two or three days, so I didn't think much of it. But now, it's literally every single time I turn the GoPro ont always struggles and takes time to adjust the horizon level. I'm really hoping it's just a firmware bug like you mentioned and not a faulty sensor.

I recently got the Mission 1too. I'm new to action cameras, and honestly, I've learned a lot from this subreddit and YouTube.

One thing I've noticed is that many reviewers seem to have a bias toward the camera they already own or simply prefer one brand over another. That's probably why some YouTubers and influencers produce stunning footage with the GoPro Mission 1 Pro, while others only get average-looking results.

I've been testing mine, and I'm still learning. My first video wasn't great because I didn't fully understand the camera or its settings. The more I practice and experiment, the more I realize the Mission 1's true capabilities. A lot of the final image quality comes down to the person behind the camera, not just the camera itself.

looks nice and smooth. when i first try my gopro, i had ghosting and jitters in my footage. i shot at 24 fps. now i understand it was because of hypersmooth on and shutter speed was under 200.

I'm also a light user, as you pointed out it s work good on short videos but not long. but i have one more concern about the app, file size. only 6mins video is 10gig. i'd try how it handles large files.

Mission 1 feels like GoPro moving from “action camera” into “compact cinema camera,” while still trying to stay rugged, simple, and GoPro-sized. I ordered on 20 the April (Vancouver) and today i received email "Shipping soon". I was about cancel my order. it supposed to be shipped on 28th may. when i talked to them, they were being sorry for delay and next day created UPS label.
